Default My trip to Staples subtitled More Sharpie Confusion! + RSVPs

Okay, I made a run to Staples (on 140th in Bellevue, WA) today to see if I could find the pack of 5 pastel sharpies and I was successful! Yippee! I figured these would be a fine addition to the pack of 17 that I got at Walmart. Anyway, I've got 17 colors already and I buy 5 more so that's a total of 22 - which we will now refer to as Group A. Well, Staples also has a pack of 24 which we will now call Group B. The interesting part is that on the back of the Group B package is a list of the 22 colors that Sharpies are available in (not counting metalics). So, what are these mysterious 2 bonus colors? I figured out which 2 markers are different between Group A and Group B - one is a bright pink and the other is a mid-range orange but pink is listed as one of the available colors so that only further complicates the mystery! I will continue to work on this but if anyone out there has solved this dilemma, please let me know asap! That way I might actually get some stamping done today.

I totally forgot to mention that I found the 2 for 1 boxes of RSVP pens and even though I didn't really need anymore right now, I bought 2 sets of the assorted ones.

Okay Pam, let's noodle this one out...I have the pack of 24...

There are three shades of pink colors (but four in the package)... pink, berry, and burgundy. I think the one not listed is the hot pink. And also the mid range orange that you talked about. Get to stamping already!

um - were you one of the women rolling around on the office chairs? If so, you're a mad woman!

Seriously, what time were you there? I was there around 6pm. I did talk to a woman by a display of sharpies and told her the pastel ones were on the bottom. That would be sooooooooooo funny if it was you!

No, I wasn't rolling around in office chairs... sounds kind of scary!!!

I was there a little bit earlier, 3 or 4 I think. I like that store a lot more than office depot by crossroads, this one teenaged clerk there is very strange, and they have a really loud alarm that keeps going off. (I have been going to office stores a lot thanks to people on this site!!!)

Our local Walmart has lots of different colors of Sharpies, I just haven't bit the bug to use them in stampin yet Maybe someday I will... Our local Menards (home improvement store) had a variety of Sharpies too, along with the 12" Fiskars cutter (metal on ruler and base of cutter, and blue ruler guide on it)for $14.95 and the Fiskars rotary cutter for I think $29.95. I had to walk away from buying them right now... but might go back at the end of the month

I've become a Sharpie addict! (Along with all my other tool addictions.)

I just bought a package of retractable Sharpies. Those are cool too.

Sharpies are great permanent ink markers. They can write on any surface and they will stay! I think I have every color made but don't know the names of them! I will try to find out!!

I wish I could find the pastel ones...Office Depot and Office Max only have the darker colors (which I had found cheaper at Sam's Club). I have yet to use them for anything, but yet I want the pastel ones! I only saw the silver metallic ones, not gold. They came in a 2 pk and I don't want 2!

I also tried a red one on a tumbled tile last night and some of it came off! I thouht it wasn't supposed to do that!

'kay, Pam - you got me all confused, and wondering what I was missing besides the Pastels I can't find. So I went to www.sharpie.com, and found this wonderfully explanatory FAQ answer.

Quote:

How many colors do SHARPIE markers come in?
The Fine Point is available in 17 colors and metallic silver, the Ultra Fine is available in 17 colors, the Twin Tip is available in 15 colors, the Sharpie Grip and Chisel Tip are available in 8 colors, the Extra Fine and Super Sharpie are available in 4 colors, the Super Sharpie Twin Tip and the Professional are available in 3 colors and the Industrial is available in 1 color.
Maybe I should have looked for "WHAT colors do Sharpies come in?"

Quote:

Fine Points come in: 17 assorted colors to make your marking unique - black, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, purple, aqua, lime, berry, turquoise, olive, marigold, navy, plum, burgundy
Maybe the count the Paint colors separately?

I just know that after reading the heading, "25 Families, 18 Tips, 42 Colors". . . . I feel so inadequate knowing that I don't have them all! (Nevermind that I have not used anything from the package I bought months ago, but I *have* them, and that's what matters, right?)

Maybe I need to try a store on the other end of town. . . .

If your Sharpie rubbed off the tile, you may want to let it dry. Once dry it should be ok.

FYI - the PAINT markers come in two varieties - OIL based and WATER based. The WATER based ones are ARCHIVAL SAFE! WHOO HOO!

LOL Jenn, I was going to go to the Sharpie website too, but it seems as though you've already been there and come back slightly confused and with no extra pen names!

Do you think this is a government plot to drive crafty women LOONY?? Oh wait, that would be hard to do since some of us...maybe I should speak for myself...already are!

I feel your pain! I have been to the Sharpie site several times, trying to "name" my pens that don't have labels, so I know which 2 I was missing. All the points and sizes can get confusing!

I don't want to upset the applecart, but what about Galaxy Markers? I love to stamp (using Staz-On) on a piiece of Acrylic, then color with the Galaxy Markers. I was going a little nuts at the Dollar Trees buying any and all colors for this. You use that new red sticky tape around the outside of the acrylic and pick up glitter with that, then put some mirrored paper behind it and put a keychain (or fibers) on it to finish it off. VERY cute, but I don't have any acrylic paint, I'm not a painter. I love those Galaxy Markers, though!

Ok, the pastel Sharpies just went to production in August (from an inside Sanford source)... most stores may not carry them just yet ... due to Back to School layouts, product display, merchandising...

Be patient, they'll be available everywhere soon enough!

Do you have more than 1 orange and 1 pink in the pack? There are only 22 colors total (excluding metallics). However, I will check and see what I can find out! Let you know asap!

Hi

I saw the assorted packages of Sharpies at Office Max and wondered what you used more of...Fine point or Ultra Fine point. Do you use these to color in the designs? I imagine some are used for writing sentiments. There were so many to choose from...LOL. Thanks for any help.

okay, here are the official names (shown in italics) of the colors from the list on the back of the 17pk. plus the 5 pastels for a total of 22:

black, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, purple, aqua, lime, berry, turquoise, olive, navy, burgundy, marigold, plum, sky, mint, peach, pink, and lilac.

The two additional markers in the 24pk are a bright pink and a mid-range orange. To be more specific, the bright pink is darker than pink (the Official name from the list of pastel colors) but not anywhere near as dark as the berry. The mid-range orange is darker than the peach but not as dark as the orange

I found a set of the fashion colors that has the mid-range orange and according to office depot, it's called orange

http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=264792

the office depot site does not have a picture of the 8/pk that shows the darker orange so I have the staples link to that set. In this set, the color is also listed as orange.

http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Brows...e=1&Sku=429025

on a whim, I checked the markers in the 24pk and the oranges definitely write 2 different colors.

Pam,
I have to tell you, YOU ARE OBSESSED WITH SHARPIES!!!!! Admit it & go stamp! Just think of all the stamping time you've wasted with this obsession!

I can't help with the colors, but I did get the pastels at Walmart in Alexandria, MN yesterday. WOOHOO!

Oh, but I don't have to stamp right now! I have a sharpie project I'm working on. I found a stationary box at Barnes & Noble - it's a nice looking box for the most part but the 3 frames on the top are covered in a blue paper that doesn't match the rest of the box. Plus, the pictures inside the frames match the stationary but not either of the papers on the box. So, I figured since the box was on clearance, I would experiment with it. I'm coloring the 3 frames with my berry sharpie and then I plan on cutting some cardstock to fit in the frames and stamping something that matches. If it turns out, I'll upload it to my gallery - that won't happen until at least tomorrow night.

Okay I have all TWENTY FOUR COLORS!!

black, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, purple, aqua, lime, berry, turquoise, magenta, tangerine, olive, burgundy, navy, marigold, plum, pink, peach, mint, sky, and lilac

I think the medium orange is tangerine and the hot pink is magenta.

Having an inside source (or more) at Sanford is a good thing!

Could we go back to Momscrzr's question - because I have the same one...
Which Sharpie tip is best (aside from the dual tip!!)? I am planning on trying the tumbled tiles.

Thanks!!

I would say it depends on what you're coloring! Tiny spaces = ultra fine and bigger spaces = fine point.
