I have (and love) the original size one. It offers me plenty of flexibility to stamp on the sizes of card I usually make (standard A6, or square of up to 14cm or so). I find there's enough space to let me position stamps so they go over the edges of projects - I'm not sure I would have had that flexibility with the smaller area of the Mini. If I'm stamping directly onto a card base rather than a layer and don't want to put it folded in the Misti, I just let the back hang out over the edge of the platform.
If you have any queries on aspects I haven't thought of, just shout!
I agree with Joanne on the original sized Misti. I did purchase the mini first and really needed the original size. I use both. I would recommend the creative corners also. If your stamp is large and you need your cardstock to be moved away from the sides, these corners really help.

Just realised I didn’t mention the bigger one (sorry, can’t remeber what it’s called). I don’t do scrapbook LOs or anything at the bigger scale so I didn’t feel I needed the extra area. I’m sure some people make great use of it though!
I have both and mostly use the mini, but I'm not as regular a stamper as the others who have weighed in, so that's a thing to consider. I also have both sizes of Tim Holtz's platform and have yet to open the "regular" one - I use the travel size. I tend to work small, though - I seldom have large elements to a card.
If buying one, I might get the original “regular” sized one rather than the mini or large. That allows flexibility if you want to stamp off the paper. For example, if you have a large flower stamp and just want part of it stamped on the edge of a card, a part of the stamp would be hanging off of the cardstock. The regular gives you some room to do that.
If you’d like to stay with a small stamp platform another option is the travel Tim Holtz. It has two open sides so you can use paper that’s quite a bit bigger overall or longer. It’s still small, just not as small as the mini Misti. I use this platform more than any of them. (I have a mini and regular Misti, and travel and full sized Tim.)

I agree with all this. I gave away my Mini Misti. I use the travel sized Tim the most followed by the regular sized Misti and a couple of other off brand positioners.
Enjoy! If you actually travel with it, there’s a case that can be purchased. It’s neoprene - wet suit material - so is well padded. I take the platform to classes, and while it’s very sturdy, with the case on I don’t have to be careful jamming things tightly into a tote. Probably unnecessary but makes me comfortable.
