is Junk. I just bought a package of 3 rolls of permanent adhesive. I know, I should have bought the Tombow...anyway, 2 of the 3 never worked. 1 worked ok. Taking the package back to Michaels. Sticking with Tombow or ATG from here on out.
I have a sneaking suspicion that most of you already knew that!
ATG.....I just happened to read some threads from years ago and everyone loves the ATG.
There are numerous brands....does it matter which one I buy and do they all use the same kind of tape with equal sticking power?
I bought the basic ATG roller from tape depot.com and it works great. I also bought a used one from a thrift store and it works great too. So overall I don't think the atg roller matters. I use tape from tape depot. Yes I buy 12 rolls of the wide and skinny rolls. It's so much cheaper

The ATG is made by the Scotch (3M) company. Most crafters have the smaller pink one or the red ATG-714 both of which use only the 1/4" tape. There are also larger ATGs such as the ATG-700 which uses 1/2" and 3/4" tapes and several other models. Enabler alert: Joann's has the pink one on sale this week.

CathyH, don't feel too bad. It does always pay to try these things, sometimes you can find a real jewel. Not every time, but sometimes. But I had the same thing with our hobby chain, Hobbycrafts, over here. I have been buying the Stix2 brand snail for a long time, I like it especially for adding inserts to cards. Thought I'd try the store brand- it was terrible. bout as much stick as a Post It, and that was the permanent one!
Sometimes cheaper will work. I use to be able to get a "snail" type adhesive from one of my local dollar stores and I loved it. It never let go, there was lots on roll, and it was only $1. I can't find it anymore. I hate the tombow snail adhesive. All my scrapbook pages I used it on fell apart, and I literally watched one card fall apart in front of my eyes that was only about 2 weeks old - and I don't make heavily embellished cards. I've been using the ATG for the last few years and it seems to be the only reliable adhesive I've found over the years. I did wonder about the Recollections adhesive, but didn't even bother since I have about another years supply of the ATG tape in my cupboard.
Besides the ATG, my other go to adhesive is from Kokuyo. Its a dot vs tape adhesive. It also comes in a power version which is little strips (like the old Creative Memories adhesive).
I purchased the dispensers from Amazon just to try them. I now purchase the refills directly from Japan. It's cheap and shipping is free for over 10,000 yen (~$90). Shipping is fast. I ordered on a Thursday and received the order on the following Tuesday! I don't think my luggage on the airlines is faster than that! LOL.
There are a ton of things! My favorites are the tote bags, notebooks and dishes but haven't ordered anything other than the adhesive. I'm part Japanese so I love the styles! Clothes I stay away from; too small for my American bones. LOL!

Cathy, I bought that same 3-pack of snail adhesive last year. I bought it because I was out of the ATG gun tape--and so was the local JoAnn's and Michael's. (In fact, it appears my local JoAnn's no longer sells it at all since there's not even a space for it on the rack of adhesives.)
Like you, I had the worst experience with that adhesive. It just wouldn't come out of the dispenser. I trashed the one and tried the other two. All three were junk. I should have returned them, but I was so frustrated that I just trashed them.
