Default Manual Die Cutter and Embosser

If you could buy a manual embosser such as a wizard, cuttle bug, sizzix, etc. which one would it be and why? Wow-does that sound like a pageant question or what. Also if you have brass templates-stencils which one do you think works best for this. Thanks

I have the Big Shot and I love it. It embosses pretty good. I really like the texture plates. I have not used the other brands.

I have the Wizard and absolutely love it. I also have a Cuttlebug, and don't love it much - the problem I had with the CB was with the Spellbinder dies: I broke 4 B plates trying to achieve a nice embossed edge (and believe me, I tried numerous combinations of cardstock shims, etc). With the Wizard, I can use CB embossing folders, CB dies, Ellison dies, Sizzix dies/texture plates (including the BigZ dies), Spellbinder dies/embossing plates. The Wizard is also lighter, easier to store, and, according to my neighbor who has arthritis, easier to maneuver if there are strength issues.

I would have to say that the Wizard gets my vote also. Since it is the machine that the Spellbinders embossing dies were designed for, I know I will get consistenly good results, plus I can use other manufacturer's dies and embossing folders.

It's lightweight and made entirely of metal which is important to someone like me that is notoriously hard on my tools. I have pushed it to the limits and have yet to break anything.

I use my CB with brass, quickutz, cb, die cuts, spellbinders, embossing folders, the list just keeps getting longer.

I am in love with my Big Shot. I have the manual one and the Express (electric) I really like my Express and it is easy to use for my mom who has hand strength issues.

I've had the original red sizzix, cuttlebug and big shot. Loved the cuttlebug and for the price (used a coupon at M's) it is great. Love the small footprint. Sold the red and cuttlebug and bought the SU version (pkg deal) of the Big Shot. LOVE IT! I love that the multi platform is so handy. I like that it's always ready to cut. If money is an issue I would go with CB, if it's not I'd go with BS.

I just love my Wizard.

The Wizard does so much - embossing with non-traditional stuff like gutter guard, flattening bottle caps, setting eyelets, cutting & embossing craft foil - to just name a few. You can use those brass stencils to emboss in your Wizard. Here is a link to a card in my gallery where I did that.

Don't forget other dies work in the Wizard, too.

Thanks all--well since this post my family bought the Wizard for my b-day. HSN has a killer deal going right now. The wizard, mats, bag, and instruc. all for $98. I had a lot of brass stencils and fisker texture plates so I have had a bunch of little projects going and you are so right the Wizard is simply an amazing tool!
