Martha Stewart has a big Monarch butterfly punch, I don't have mine with me so I can't tell you exact measurements. Do you have a Cricut? There are several cartridges that have butterflys on them.

There's a Cuttlebug die that makes a big butterfly (I don't have it with me, but I'm thinking it's at *least* 2 inches). It comes with four embossing folders so you can emboss it after it's cut from the regular die.

The Martha Monarch butterfly is only 1.75" across the top wings. It's about 1.25" high.

Not a punch, but Sizzix makes an originals die that includes a pretty big butterfly - the die is about 4 3/4 inches across and also includes a dragonfly but it looks to be about 2 inches across

Do you have Making Memories "Slice Machine"... I have their Design cards, and I know they have some wonderful butterflies on the design cards. I don't have my design cards with me right now and not sure which design cards have the butterflies.

SU has a butterfly punch but I don't know if it's 2 inches. It's a good size. The Slice does have some beautiful butterflies.

Stampin' Up has the butterfly punch which I think would be about 2 inches. They also have the Butterfly Bigz die for the Big Shot. It has 4 different sizes of butterflies.

Thank you all for your help.
Unfortunately I do not own any of the craft machines (yet!).
So my only option would be a punch i guess.

I've got an EK Success butterfly punch - one of the punches from their Whale Of A Punch range. It is between 1 3/4 - 2 inches wide. Might be worth a search on the internet?

I found a punch that is about 1 3/4" wide at hobby lobby but i just realized that I need one between 2 1/2" and 3".
You would think that that is a common shape, fairly high demanded.
But it's really hard to find it as a big punch. All the stores have really odd shapes like a flip-flop, but butterflies impossible to find. Very frustrating. The same for the internet.
I guess i might have to buy die cuts from somebody.... if they have them in the size I need....

To make bigger butterflies I pull out the Fiskars Shape Cutter templates. They have a couple of them, with butterflies starting from around 3 inches and going up to 5 1/2 inches... I use the Shape Cutter with a glass mat but you could simply trace and cut by hand if you didn't have the cutter itself?

just measured more accurately, one of them (Butterfly 1) has wings spanning 2 1/4 and 2 3/4 inches.. hope this helps!?

The thing is that I need about 100 of them. I really don't want to cut them out by hand. But It looks like I might have to

I have decided to buy the cutter. And the shape. it seems to be perfect for what I need.
Does that cutter work good with cardstock?

Just be prepared for it to take a little while to get used to this cutting system. I recommend trying on scrap cardstock to practice, but it cuts pretty easy once you've figured out how much pressure to apply and how to keep the cutting tool at the edges.

Thank you so much for mentioning this. I have it and totally forgot I even own it!! I've been searching for a nice size butterfly and apparently I've had one all along.

Malou- I use my Fiskars Shape Cutter all the time. I love it. It does take some getting used too. Go to Fiskars and watch the videos. This is a must.

Make sure your templates has the Fiskars label face up. Before you cut start your blade on the mat or glass mat you are using. I learned this tip from Julie on Scrapbook Memories. It really works.

Don't start on an edge. Remember to tape down your project.

HTH!

If you're close to LSS, sometimes they will have a die cutting machine that they will let you use with their dies if you buy your cardstock from them. I use to do this before I got all my equipment.

local scrapping store

Archiver's will let you use their machines if you buy the paper there.

Thanks for all the help. I decided to cut them all out myself will be to much work on top of everything else, so I went on ebay and got 85 big butterflies for $3.00, $1.85 shipping. That was fine with me.
And this is what I am using it for:
