Default That little sewing machine

I know on a thread I saw something about a new little sewing machine you ladies have been using and loving. I can not find the thread though.

I am a sewing challenged individual. I want an inexpensive mid sized machine that is DUMMY PROOF. Any advice? I have one of those mini-scrappin ones and it stinks bad!

Thanks,
Lisa

It's called the Janome Sew Mini, weighs only 5 lbs and works great. It has several different straight stitches and several zig zags. You just have to turn a knob to change the stitch.

I got mine from Hancocks online, but they may sell it other places, too. When I got mine, it was on sale for $39.00 with free shipping.

Does it move really fast? Can you control the pace; I mean the needle part, because I am super sewing challenged. How do you start and stop it in the middle of a piece of cardstock?

Does it slide? My other little sewing machine is so light that with any weight to the paper it slides rather than sits still as I sew. It also has a needle that moves so fast an inexperiences person can not manage it.

Re: your questions about the Janome Sew Mini:

It is very easy to control. It only has one speed, and that is SLOW. I think that would be easy for someone who is not used to sewing on a machine.

When you take your foot off the pedal, it stops immediately.

It is lightweight and easy to move to your table, but it is nicely weighted and has rubber feet on the bottom and does not slip around.

I have not had any problems with the paper moving around while I am sewing on it. When you lower the "foot" down on to the paper, it holds the paper firmly in place while you are sewing.

The machine does come with a nice instruction manual and has pictures to show you what everything means.

Good luck!

How difficult is it to change the thread bobbins so you can use different colors?

my problem with sewing machines is to thread the needle.

I love mine!! I got mine off QVC about a year ago with free shipping and handling!

changing the bobbins is not hard at all.. in fact I evn use the bobbims from that crappy 9.00 macine sold at michales... but it came with some colorful bobbins... I trashed that 9.00 machine.. and saved all the bobbins and the idea book!
