Default Layering Fonts on Cameo

I need lots of help here! I purchased the font of LDJ Whale Tail for the Cameo. I am working on graduation frames and now decided that I need to layer the lettering. I have made my letters at 2 inches tall---and did the screen that did the lock/apply to get them to accurate size. Okay --now my problem. No matter what I do - I cannot get the size to layer. I also purchased the Collegiate Letters. But to make them larger ---ungroup --and then you move them they all, of course, come apart in layers. This is just about impossible to get the layering correct. Anyone, please, have any suggestions??? Oh---also ---can you "ungroup" to separate a letter from the group and then after move and put back together can you "group" again? Have not been able to figure that one out either. Thanks for any and all suggestions and help!

I'm not sure I'm understanding. Can you clarify what you mean by layer the lettering? Are you wanting to Join the lettering together, layer the lettering on the frame or around the frame, or put a shadow around the letters?

Yes, guess that is easier to understand ----put a shadow around a letter. Like make it 2 layers using 2 different colors. Thanks!

I know in the Silhouette software I have for the original cutting machine, to make a shadow there is a "offset" button to click on. And to regroup, I click on the slanted arrow on the left side and then drag a box around what I want to group and then from pull down menu, click group. I would have to go see where the buttons are located and post again.
