I was so excited to get the Baker's and Christmas ensembles from Just Rite stamps but when I inked them up I get ink on what is supposed to be the blank space around the outer circle in between the phrases. kwim? I tried to tap gently on my ink pad - didn't work. I tried coloring with markers. That was a pain and I still didn't get it. What am I missing? Has anyone else had this problem? I must say I am so disappointed. I've seen some nice samples with these stamps but I cannot figure out how you ladies have avoided getting ink on the rubber where it's not supposed to be. Any tips appreciated! Thanks!

Can attach a picture to show what is happening? I just got out the Christmas set and stamped both with a border and without the border design (just the inside circle) and had no problems.
For the Christmas set there are 3 inner circles that are "reverse" print (meaning the lettering is not inked but would be left whatever color your paper is and the background is inked): Season Greetings, Happy Holidays and Friends Make the Holidays Special (this actually has both reverse and regular lettering, the Friends and Special are regular while the inside - make the holidays - is reverse). The other 3 inner circles are regular print (where the phrases are inked and the background is not): Merry Christmas, Eat Lots of Chocolate, Hugs and Kisses Holiday Wishes.
I had a bit of a learning curve when I got my first set of Just Rite Stamps about 1.5 weeks ago. Now I love them. I am getting beautiful images. I ordered a whole bunch of stuff when they were 2 for 1 so I gave all the extras to my two sisters for Christmas. I love these stamps.

I had a problem with the Damask borders with the large font single letter in the middle. The border would ink just fine but I can never get the letter to ink as well resulting in a not-so-clean image. I now stamp the border first. Then I use my ATG gun to run a small strip of adhesive on a small acryllic block. I put my initial on it an stamp the single letter monogram in the middle of the border. I takes twice the time if I am using the same color ink for both. But it works great if I want to stamp the letter in a different color ink. I would love to hear if others have this problem and any solutions.
Well...... don't faint. For one of the stamps, I actually cut the rubber! It is the one (Christmas) that just has the words in the center, something like "Wishing you Happy Holidays...." Well there was so much blank rubber all around it, so I just cut it off. I trimmed it down to the edges of the words, and now it inks up and stamps beautifully.
I figure, hey, it's MY rubber and nobody is gonna care if it is cut up. I'm going to make it work for me instead of giving me fits. Hee hee! :-)
For the other images like the mostly solid ones, I had to use my sanding block to sand off that glossy sheen. It's something left over from the manufacturing process. It doesn't hurt the rubber at all, just lightly sand and then ink it up and stamp. If it is still blotchy, sand it some more. Don't grind the sanding block into the rubber - just lightly move it over the rubber. You're just trying to take off that glossy sheen, nothing else.
A related Just Rite question.... does anyone know what size punch is best to punch out around the circle?
I use the gold EK Success circle punch, then if I want a border around that, I use the biggest Fiskars Squeeze circle and then the pink scallop circle from Marvy. HTH!
Funny that you would ask about this as I was working with the baking set just today and had exactly the same problem. I finally resolved it by using a baby wipe to carefully wipe the edges clean before stamping. It was a pain but did work.

Hello? If I have to go to all that trouble, I'll just use the clear stamp Alphas I have already! LOL Do love the borders, though!
I must admit, I am a little disappointed with the Just Rite. To be fair---I haven't used them a lot since I just got some Christmas sets right before last Christmas. Maybe I should play a little more with them. I love the concept, but they don't seem like the "rubber" or whatever they are made of are deeply enough etched.

The rubber with the image doesn't seem to 'sit' evenly in the grooves on the wooden stamp base so I get light and dark spots. I have looked at the way the rubber in sitting in the stamp and it looks even, have placed it face down on a flat surface and leaned on on the wooden base but still can't get a 'good' image. Will keep trying since I can't return the set because too much time has passed since I purchased it.
I have seen Becca Feeken's cards so I know it can be done. (I guess NOT by me!) Hers are just such beautiful works of art---

Try stamping on a soft surface like a mouse pad, plus check the type of ink you're using---Versafine and chalk inks work really well with the Justrite's. HTH!
I have used Versafine or Momento ink without any problems.
For me the Momento "dew drop size" works perfectly with the JustRite borders and fonts
I have trimmed all of my JustRite stamps . I trim close to the image. Be sure to hold the scissors perfectly vertical so you get clean vertical cuts on the grooves on the underside.
When I put the stamp on the mount I press on it all over a couple of times to be sure the entire stamp is seated in the grooves . The center of the stamp must be seated in the grooves as well as the outer edges.
I put the mount (stamp side up) on the table and apply the ink that way.
I love the JustRite sets

Guess I will have to try some of these ideas. I gave up after awhile because it just didn't work for me. Have to dig them out again---loved the idea of them--just couldn't get them to work for me.
I trim my "extra" rubber from my images and I also stamp on a softer surface... I stand when I stamp with those... and I don't have any issues... I sure hope some of the suggestions work for you... they are beautiful stamps!

Thank you for the hint about the ink but I have tried Versafine,Memento, Colorbox chalk (I know the pad is too soft), SU, Stazon, Marvy Matchables and Tim Holtz Distress Ink without any luck.
