Default Jamone Sewing Machine

Does anyone know if the Jamone Mini Craft Sewing Machine has a light on it?
Would appreciate any information. Thank you.

I have the Sew Mini, and no it does not have a light. I use a gooseneck desk lamp when I use it.

It does not have a light. I have found that a small table lamp of any kind behind the machine is enough light for me to see what I'm doing, including threading the machine (and I wear bifocals! I use the needle threader that came with the machine).

Is this a machine you would recommend for someone only interested in *trying* to stitch on paper/cards and light sewing?

I've only tried to sew (on a machine) once and it didn't go so well. LOL!

I have one and I love it...my daughter also has one and it is her first sewing machine (she's 28!). She loves it and has sewn curtains for her kitchen, burp cloths & receiving blankets, and little quilts. She absolutely loves her little Janome. One reason is that she is a beginning sewer and the machine won't "take off fast" on you even if you press too hard on the foot pedal.

Paper Addict- I have five sewing machines. I use the Janome Sew Mini for my light machine. I really, really love her. She is a good beginner or mending machine. She is definitely an excellent paper craft sewing machine.

Thanks for letting me know you love her. I am going to see if I can fall in love with her today...since it is snowing and I am stuck inside with her. Miss Janome Sew Mini will get a good workout today. I am watching Gina K's videos on how to unpack her to how to sew with her. The videos are wonderfu and they made it so easy to get startedl!!! "Thanks Gina K" you are the best and I love Stamptv and your blog. Off to play.............Have a wonderfully blessed day everyone!!!

Where would you all reccomend getting one for the cheapest price My daughter has been wanting a starter machine (age 9) and I might want to try it for my paper crafting. Overstock has them, but they are refurbished. Not sure I want to go that route.

The cheapest place I found was Hancock Fabric (online). I wanted for a sale, the cheapest price is indeed the $39.99 there and if it's your first time placing an online order with them they give you free shipping! Awesome deal! I just bought mine back in November!

I too use my Ott lite, and I love my Janome mini. I have had it for over a year and no trouble at all with it.

Does your DD like Hello Kitty? Target and Sears both carry a Hello Kitty machine that is the Janome Sew Mini but it's branded with Hello Kitty. This is a popular machine with young girls and older women. Trust me I would have one if I could.

If you have a Hancock's in town you can get a Janome Sew Mini on sale for around $39.99.

A lot of times for a lot of things I would recommend refurbish. Sewing machines are not something that I usually do because a beginner sewist with a refurbished/used machine can have more frustrating headaches than fun.

You can also try your local sewing machine repair store. A lot of time customer's drop off their machines and never pick them up. There are good deals to be found here. The machine will be repaired and in great condition.

Also you can try Freecycle but the machine might have a lot of problems. Buying a used machine can be tricky. Either you need a lot of knowledge in knowing how to fix them or you get lucky and find one in mint condition.

Is it wrong to be 34 and want the Hello, Kitty one?

Not that that would stop me...LOL!

My Janome Sew Mini came last week and I took her out and sewed during the snow storm. I love it and Gina K's videos over on stamptv are so helpful. I had no problems and was able to set it up and sew in no time flat. I ordered mine on sale at Hancock Fabrics and got free shipping. They shipped it on the 1st and I had it by the 4th. The only thing I didn't realize was that it doesn't come with any thread but luckily I had some in my emergency sewing kit.
