I think that's the same as Office Depot (any cartridge- maximum of 3 per visit).

At Office Depot you get money on your reward card. At the end of the cycle (?month, ?quarter) you get an office depot card with the total amount of money you've earned on it. You don't actually get cash back.

My Office Max no longer gives you credit for the small cartridges. Only large ones with printer heads according to the sales clerk. They will recycle the small ones for you.

I was so upset when Staples put this new policy into effect. Used to be you brought in your cartridges and they issued you a discount on your order on the spot. Now you have to wait for the coupon to come in the mail. I did this once. It takes a long time to get your coupon, and when I got mine, I didn't need it anymore. I needed ink way before the coupon ever came. Since I don't buy anything else at Staples, I never used it. To make it even worse, the coupon expired before I needed to buy ink again.
Stupid, stupid policy.

You are right about taking so long to get the coupon. I still haven't rec'd it and its been since last summer anyway. Well the cartridges are no good to me and I do buy white cardstock from them so I will continue taking them in. I bought envelopes from them too until they discontinued them. Thanks for the info.

I take mine to Office Max. same deal. but it only took a couple weeks for my credit to show up. I used it to buy the shipping labels needed to do the patchwork technique shown on this thread These are a lot of fun!

It was somewhat complicated to get to the "gift card" that Office max had issued, so be warned!

I've enjoyed using the coupons that Staples issues for returned cartridges to buy double-stick tape for my dispenser. That stuff is mighty pricey, so I appreciate it when I can save a few dollars.

If you shop at Staples or any of the stores that give credit for used ink cartridges, the credit is put toward your card for future purchases. Even if you don't need the ink cartridge right then, you can purchase it to have in waiting for when you do. I always keep at least 2 new ink cartridges for each of my printers in stock. Just check the dates on the packages. They are usually good for at least a year. I use a cartridge in about 2 months time with each of my printers.

I don't know about the other stores, but now Office Max only credits name brand cartridges. If they are refilled ones (like store ones). They don't give credit for their store brand either.....those are refilled ones.

There is also another style of ink cartridge they don't accept, but I didn't understand what the clerk was calling those. I didn't have any of those, so didn't worry about them.

It takes a long time to get the coupon as it is only sent out quarterly. I usually forget about it then get a surprise $12 or so for the next batch of school supplies. (Office Depot gave instant coupons for a long time and I really miss that service.)

I use Office Max - you can turn in 10 cartridges per week and they give you $3 per cartridge. They post the coupons on your internet Office Max account monthly and you just print it on your computer. I like to save up cartridges until I have 30-40 and then turn them in all in one month. The savings can add up to $120 (10 per week- 4 weeks per month $3 ea) and then you can buy something big if you want. I'm saving up for a new shredder that does those pesky credit card offers with fake cards! If I don't want anything big I use the $$ on tape refills and envelopes.
