Default Inexpensive layering dies/cutting files?

I just can't justify the outrageous cost of some of the layering dies out on the market now, and I won't buy the cheap, illegally copied versions either. Does anyone know of legitimate sources for less expensive alternatives, or can you point me to some cutting files (Cricut, Silhouette, or SVGs) that will do the same thing? Thanks for the help!

I've read good things about Gina Marie Designs but haven't ordered yet. Here's a link:

https://wholesalecraftingsupplies.com/collections/dies

Also, Marcos Paper usually sells discontinued Spellbinders dies at 50% off.

Looking forward to finding out what you get!

I have ordered from Gina Marie a few times. Her dies are priced very fairly and are good quality. I highly recommend her.

I would also recommend Gina Marie. She sells some discontinued Spellbinders in addition to her own designs. She has stamps, too (her own, Deep Red, Hampton Art, Inkadinkado) - very limited on the non-GM stamps, but great prices.

I have also ordered from Gina Marie Designs; I am very happy with the quality of the dies and the cost. Most of her dies run $10 or less.

Thanks everyone. I checked out Gina Marie, but I found only one die set that was the type I'm looking for. I'm looking for the sets that layer together to form a design like this one by Birch Press. This set is $70, and that's out of my price range. I know there are cut files that can do this, but I can't seem to find them. Thanks again.

The link didn't show (unless I need more coffee and/or new glasses). I looked at the Birch Press site once or twice ... nice but expensive!

Ok so you DONT want the "layer" die sets that we also call nesting- like several rectangle sizes or spellbinder labels, etc.

You DO want the layers that stack? I am going to link b/c layering can be confusing. (not your fault, just saying) Birch press calls them stackables. They must realize the price is high-they have been making some less expensive but all three layers can still up there.

Birch Press Design

That's a hard one. I dont know that I have seen them anywhere else but Birch press.
If I do I will let you know. I don't do the files so no help there.

Yes, like the Kaleidoscope set. I had added the picture, but I don't know what happened to it in my post. Thanks!

Altenew also sells some layering dies, but they’re still a bit pricey, IMO: https://altenew.com/collections/all-...tegory_layered.

Ellen Hutson is having a 20% off sitewide sale today, so that could be an opportunity to save some cash on the more expensive designs.

Birch Press has 25% off sales now and then, if you want to get on their mailing list.

Some larger dies' negative space CS can be stacked slightly offset for a similar look. I discovered it by accident after die cutting a die twice in a bright color and black. When I picked up the negative space CS pieces to look at they happened to be offset.

There a few of these layering diecut designs at the Silhouette Design Store designed by Lori Whitlock. Go to Silhouette Design Store - Home and then in the search box enter "A2 stacking card base". HTH

That's gorgeous! I have a huge library of Silhouette cut files on a slow dinosaur laptop (Windows based). If I can ever find out how to get them transferred to my MAC, I'll be in business. Should be easy, but my email addy has changed, I don't remember my password, and it's too much of a headache to jump through their hoops trying to prove I am who I say I am.

I really only want 2 files: a medallion (that's folded like a fan, then joined in a circle) and the files for a cathedral window quilt card. I have found 2 medallion dies, and just last night, found dies for the cathedral window. So I'm ecstatic, but it's a shame to let all those files go to waste.

Do you have a USB drive (assuming the 'dinosaur' and newer Mac both have a USB port)? If you don't have one, they're quite inexpensive and perfect for moving files around locally. Any local electronics store will carry a variety.

Alternately get a Dropbox or Google Drive account (both are free, Drive is a bit easier to navigate and more widely compatible, being browser-based) and upload your files there. Then you can download them to your new machine. As a bonus, cloud storage is a good way to save those most precious things should your computer ever have a catastrophic failure.

I was doing some browsing today and came across Laurel Beard's blog and a video in which she uses purchased SVG files from The Ton (http://www.laurelbeard.org/cricut-ai...ing-svg-files/) I have just done a brief overview but it looks like, in addition to producing coordinating dies to their stamps, they also have some gorgeous floral layering SVG files. https://www.thetonstamps.com/collect...-coverplates-1

Scrapjanny, I bought some like that from The Silhouette Store. Just figured out where they are, and they've added a lot more. Try THIS LINK.
If the link doesn't work for any reason, type Stacking Shapes into the search bar.

Thanks, SherylH and Shaz. I actually bought some of the Silhouette files, but I'm glad to see there are new ones. I love the ones I have. I'll have to check out The Ton. Thanks again!

This one is pretty awesome, since the cross cut one can be used by itself for some really cool backgrounds!! I just stopped myself from making a purchase at one website, so now I can order from this one!!! Thanks!!
