Also, the best tool I have found recently is Evernote. I am cataloging my stamps/inks/supplies so I easily know what I have when I am shopping. It syncs with a smart phone AP too. I am also compiling my Wishlist[/QUOTE]

What is 'Evernote'?

Instead of suggesting what to buy, I would like to add a different type of suggestion...Make sure you spend time creating, not just buying. When I first started stamping, I got so caught up in the "I need everything" phase, that I did not spend a lot of time creating. I was too busy trying to organize and store all of my purchases....many of which I never use. I get nauseous sometimes just thinking about how much money I wasted because I got caught up in the accumulating phase!

Evernote is a free program that is a basically a digital notebook. You can make lists, clip articles online, take screenshots, you name it. Everything can go into a notebook (which can be organized into larger groups) and you can tag everything!

I've started using it much like River: to store supplies, my wishlist, and ideas. I have a section for each of those. And then each section has individual notebooks. So supplies has a "Stamps" notebook. And in that notebook is a photo of each stamp set, tagged with related tags (like "birthday" "cat" "sentiment" etc etc). It's so handy and easy to use! I'm addicted.

It's like an acrylic block replacement for stamps! Well, it's better than acrylic blocks, I think. Here's a link where they share a video of it: http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...d-t590419.html

Yes, a big shot. I have a bug and emboss almost every card or use a die or both!

A good scissors -I have two small paper snips. Cutter bee and fiskars

Ribbon and twine

Ink, paper, & dsp

Recollections at Michael's has a great 110 lb white paper pack you can get for 40% or 50% off with a coupon. They also have black, cream and other neutrals.

Foam pop up dots and glue dots

Knowing what I know now, if I had to start over: I would buy only quality clear stamps, after careful consideration of whether and how I would use them; I would have invested in Copics a lot sooner than I did; I would NOT buy any of the 12" slabs of patterned paper; I would only buy white ribbon/seam binding and color it with my Copics; I would buy inkpads only if I could get the refills (this is one I got right from the beginning); and, finally, the tools I cannot do without: my ATG gun, my ScorPal, my Genesis paper trimmer (I would have bought THAT sooner!), my teflon bone folder, my Big Shot, my Stamp-a-ma-jig, Quickie glue pens and Glossy Accents.

I would buy the best cardstock I could find, which I first found at Papertrey Ink. Then someone on here recommended the Michael's Recollection 110# paper, so I thought I would give it a try. I love this stuff - it is thick and luscious, comes in white and cream. It's $12.99 for 100 sheets; with a 40% coupon, that's $.08/sheet - $.04/per card. Treat yourself - it's a joy to work with.

Amen and AMEN!!!!!! I spent Waaaaayyyyyy too much money before I learned I really hate to color, no matter what colored pencils, markers, pastels, inks or paints I buy. And buying the best quality of those didn't make me any better at coloring.

But then, think about how much money we've wasted on kitchen gadgets and equipment that didn't make us better cooks. The thrift shops are full of George Forman Grills, for instance.

BigKick/BigShot and a ScanNCut. That covers embossing and cutting just about anything. You might not (I can't honestly say "won't" lol) be tempted to buy lots of punches & dies (the two most space-hogging tools around, IMO) if you have a SNC.

I'd go clingmount with stamps. Either buy them that way or IMMEDIATELY convert them when they come into your house. Don't let yourself get behind in the unmounting.

Research your storage possibilities/needs. There are lots of craftroom tips & pics on the web. Keep an organized inventory so you know what you have and don't buy duplicates. The two inventory systems I read about most involve Evernote or Excel. Even a simple Word doc, which let's you sort alphabetically and search by word or phrase, is better than relying on your memory!

Welcome back to the craziness!

Welcome back...wish you lived near me..I would let you take what you wanted from the 9 bins of stuff I am getting rid of. I love to share.
I think an ATG and Mono Multi for adhesive.
Blessings.
