So far all I have done is straight lines across the page nothing very exciting but just the fact that I threaded the bobbin and machine and used it!!!!
Congrats to you for figuring it out! I am still trying to figure it out myself. I keep messing up my attempts at it. How do you get it to stop ripping up the paper and turning the thread into a messy ball on the back? I asked my mother for advice since she sews everything and she said that it sounds like my sewing machine is messed up. I wish she could come over and help me, but since she lives in Tennessee and I live in Hawaii, that is not an option! HELP!!

What machine do you have? It sounds like you need to adjust the settings a bit - less tension, maybe longer stitches?
I sew on everything (So the cat better not stay still!)
I love layers upon layers so I sew on layouts, cards, paper going on altered items. Thread can add great detail or define a given area. looking at the cat right now and she is asleep...he he he. If you are afraid to sew on projects in the works take some scrap paper and play with it. Have fun!!!

I am learning to sew with my new little "Pixie" machine (Christmas gift from DH)on my scraps of paper... I stitch on the scrap paper and then adhere/use the pieces like embellishments. Works for me thus far... I haven't gotten brave enough to actually run a layout thru the machine. But practice, practice, practice...

I love sewing on my scrapbook pages and cards. In fact I bought red metallic thread to use on my Valentine cards. If you are having problems sewing on paper just make your stitches longer. They are probably too close together and ripping the paper. Also go slow. Try your hand at it. It adds another layer of dimension. Believe me I do not sew so ...if I can do so can you!
YEAHH!!! Got my little Janome for bday-LAST March-and after reading this thread -sewed on a card for the first time last nite! You all inspired me!! Of course -I could be the Mom here!! LOL!!! So figured time to get it sewing! (tooo funny-dh heard me-thought it was his cellphone going off! LOL!)
