Default I now understand the Love Affair of Copics

Just got my 1st set, and was amazed with just plain coloring. The colors are true, soft, and no streaking. I watched a You Tube video by Debbie Olsen, a certified Copic instructor, and she demonstrates and explains blending beautifully.
If you can find a class so you can try them, then you will be amazed at their performance

My first Copics I bought were the "flesh coloured" ones, to be able to colour in the faces of the adorable "House Mouse" images. Then on a whim, I bought some reds and blues; then I bought some greens and pinks; then I bought some browns and purples; and so on.... yes, they are very addicting!

That sounds exactly like me! I started out saying, "I am only going to buy flesh colors." That didn't last very long though!

I had the opportunity to use Copics yesterday. One of the gals attending our Bellingham shoebox swap brought hers. WOW... I am impressed!

Now... after I get my checkbook balanced and my other bills paid.....

I have caught the fever too! I was amazed at how nice my projects look and I am so very very in-experienced!

I have been fighting the urge to go to Dick Blick today and get a few more colors. Its about 10 blocks from my house. Hmmmmmm I could say I am going for a walk.

Hey Karen, It looks like you're having a good time with your Copic Markers.

I too love the way they blend so easy. No streaking.

I've had mine for awhile. And I *Love* them!!!!

I'm very curious - I've been thinking awhile now about making the investment. Where do you buy your Copics? Who has the best price?

I have looked at many different places and the best price I have found is at Carpe Diem. http://www.carpediemstore.com

Right now the sketch markers are $4.25 each and free s/h with orders over $80. However, periodically they have them on sale. I have gotten them for as low as $3.65 each. You just have to be willing to wait for them to have another good sale. It's still a good price at $4.25 because the sketch markers normally run around $6.50.

I jsut went to the Carpe Diem website and the markers will only be on sale for the $4.25 price until midnight tonight. After that I don't know what the price will be.

http://www.stampingscrapping.com/cat...289/Copics.htm

Stampingscrapping.com has Ciao sets and then individual Sketch Markers for $4.87 each -- service is super fast and Cindy, the owner, is wonderful!!! All prices here are very good!!!

Have you tried Dick Blick's? I've bought a LOT of my Prisma markers there for a great price. And while I like the range of colors that COPIC carries, I can't justify the expense. I use my Prisma markers all the time at a fraction of the cost.

I brought my first Copic 's to use for coloring in flowers, started with 6 colors. Then I added a few more now I have over 100 markers and still need more. I was crafting with a friend and she used pencils and I used Copic and the difference was so much brighter with Copics. I now color with Copics. I like the brighter colors......The image seems to pop off the card...........

I must admit, I've caught the addiction too
Copics are amazing. I just need to get my shading more in line, but as they say patience. But I must admit I love the look of the markers and what you can do with them.

QUESTION: I am looking online and see two "versions" of Copic markers. The Copic Sketch looks like the one that I used on Saturday at our swap. Also there is the Copic Ciao. Can someone tell me... what is the difference?

The only difference is the shape of the barrel....sketch is oval and Ciao is round. Exact ink just different shape. The sketch holds a little more ink than the Ciao and the sketch comes in 334 colors the Ciao comes in 144 colors.

The sketch has the number and color on the bottom. This makes it easy to identify the color that you want to use. The Ciao does not. A lot of people that buy Ciao put their own label on the bottom of the marker.

it might seem like a fraction of the cost but you can't refill prismacolor markers so for the cost of 3 prismacolor you could buy one copic and it's refill and have 12 markers worth of ink! Those prismas are also filling landfills, but an empty copic ink bottle can be recycled. Copics are a long term investment and well worth every penny if you've ever had to buy a second or third marker in the same color in any other brand.

Yes it's deff an obsession. First a few here and there and then before you know it you are crunching numbers like an accountant to find the best color combos and not mistakingly ordering duplicates.
Ad far as learning more I did just finish an online course at mycreativeclassroom.com
it was thought by colleen and the class is "everything copic" It was $35 and she does online video's weekly and she is an awesome certified copic deisgner. My class just ended but I know another one is starting Nov 2nd. If you are going to invest in these markers it's good to know all you can do with them to get the most out of them. HTH

There are many online stores that sell the copics but I haven't found as many that sell the refills but here's one to try:

http://www.franticstamper.com/copic.htm

Copic Marker
Chamois
COP-M-E35
$3.95
Copic Refill
Chamois
COP-R-E35
$6.95
