Default I found a wonderful thing to have!!

When my dh had recovered from his latest surgery, we were left with over 300 adhesive removal pads... These are soooo awesome!!!! I love these things, I used them to clean the 'goo' off my kai scissors, as well as my paper snips. No fuss, no muss, took less than 30 seconds to clean them.

I simply had to pass along the wonderful information.

Happy Stamping

Thanks for the info - I use WD-40. Just spray a little on a piece of paper towel and wipe scissors down - but then I wipe again with a clean paper towel.

Wow, do you know what's in those things? Alcohol? I've never heard of adhesive remover pads before.

The ingredient list says:

c11-12 isoparaffin, mineral spirits, isopropyl palmitate, isopropyl myristate, isopropyl stearate, and isopropyl alcohol

the best part of these is that each pad is in its own little package, perfect for the crafter on the go. lol HTH

if you'd like a website, just let me know. hth

Easy to find online. Just type adhesive remover pads medical into your Google window. Several companies sell them. About $5 per box of 100.

I just use BD alcohol swabs - sold in packs of 100 in the pharmacy, near the diabetic supplies. Can't remember the price! Less than $3.

Ingredient: Isopropyl Alcohol 70%

At Home Depot, I found a WD-40 *pen*. I love it! It's neat, stays clean, doesn't spatter around my craft space, and cleans sticky like nobody's business! I've been using mine for more than a year, and it's still got fluid left in it. It was about $2.50 If you can't find the above-mentioned pads, you might keep an eye out for a WD-40 pen.

Baby oil works too. When I worked in a clinic we used to purchase the pads to help remove adhesive from tape and ECG tabs. It got cost prohibitive really quick, until someone read the label...it's basically baby oil without the fragrance. Baby oil on a cotton ball or cotton swab works well to--unless you can't stand the scent (like me!)

I believe that the adhesive removal pads are similar to nail polish remover. At least that is what they smell like to me. I personally use alcohol wipes, works fast and evaporates leaving no residue.

I use the packets of alcohol and they work great! They are in the drug stores and groceries near the diabetic supplies, or near the bottles of alcohol. There are brand names and the stores generic. One hundred swabs come in a small box for a couple of dollars. It is awesome to just open the pouch and clean the kai's with two/three swipes of one pouch. I also use them to clean my messy ink pads when little hands get them "inked" inside and out.

I bought a silicone spray, Slick, and if you put it on your scissors periodically, you don't get them gunky at all. I found it at a dental supply comp. in so ca.

I just use rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball to clean goo off my scissors like when I cut out a bunch of new stamps. Works for me.

Kathy, the same exact swabs are sold under the *Reli On* brand at Wal-Mart Pharmacy- 100 indiv. pkgd pads for $1.00 - they may be more now, its been quite a while since I stocked up. The label says swabs, but they're little folded pads. Active ingredient: Isopropyl Alcohol, 70%.

Default Scissors Clean-up "formula"

I use Avon's Skin-So-Soft bath oil. Cleans the goop off the scissors and leaves them smelling nice at the same time!

I buy Goo-Gone that comes in individual packets. It works great to get the sticky off scissors and other tools. I throw a couple of packets in my "portable craft room" so I always have them handy.

Default goo remover

Or you could just eat at KFC a great deal and always ask for the towelettes....
They will work in a pinch--

the alcohol pads will also remove sharpie marker from almost everything in the world.......don't ask me how I know.

The best sticky goo remover I use is Electra Shave for men to use with electric shavers. It works like a charm and smells great too. Give it a try. I have used it on a ton of stuff and will buy more when I use up this bottle.

Rubberstampave.com is offering a cleaning pad for scissors with the purchase of two static cushion sheets (along with her 7 x 9 rubber sheets on sale from $17 down to $12). I bet that this pad is the same!

If you go to a drugstore where the band-aids are, you can find adhesive remover. Either in bottles or individual pouches. They work fabulous for cleaning gunk off of scissors. One brand I buy is called "Solvo-Plast". But I think I must find that neat little WD-40 pen from Home Depot.
