I finally did it!
I finally used the gift card to Michaels that my MIL gave me for my b-day MONTHS ago. I couldn't decide what I wanted to get. Well, I sashayed in there today with my 40% coupon and gc in hand and got a box of Prismacolor pencils. I got the box of 36 pencils and I also got the accessory kit. Woohoo!!! I have just recently started making cards where I do more coloring and am looking forward to using the pencils on my cards.

Question. How much do they cost and how do they differ from SU colored pencils?

I used them for the first time tonight. I like them a lot. I am glad I got the accessory kit that had the blender pencil in it. I think that made a big difference. I'm going to have to practice though, it still looks like a 1st grader colored...

What do you use to blend Prismacolor pencils with? I saw them recently when searching for Copics - just wondering.

Odorless Mineral Spirits (Gamsol is one brand, Mona Lisa is another - this one is available in M's & other box stores). I have not tried it personally, but others swear by baby oil. Basically these mediums break down the wax from the pencil and allow the color pigment to be moved and blended.

I use gamsol. You can buy it online. There is also a colorless blender pencil you can buy if you do not want the chemicals around.

I just bought Prismacolors yesterday and played with Gamsol last night. The Inky Antics girly girls are so much fun to color!

If you go with a colorless blender pencil, get the splendor blender, it is much nicer then the prismacolor one when blending out the prismacolor pencils. I find the prismacolor one to be very hard and need a lot of pressure to make the colors blend. The splendor blender does not need nearly the amount of pressure to get the colors to blend.

Is the Splendor Blender a pencil or marker type blender? My Prismacolor accessory kit came with a blender pen as well... I haven't tried that one yet, though.
