I feel like the biggest doofus. I finally broke down and bought a COD, but I can't seem to figure out how it works, even though I've followed instructions carefully. Either I rip the paper or the eyelets (the big ones that came with the Crop) break (the little bottom pieces snap). Any helpful hints before I toss it right in the garbage? Thanks in advance!
Oh don't toss! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the CAD! Make sure that your eyelet is going the right direction. Look at the little image that's etched into the side. The top of the eyelet should go into the pronge that sticks out. then make sure the settings are right. You can turn those black things to get the where you want them, depending on what you are setting and the size. So if you're setting a regular size eyelet, setting should be on C3. Hope this helps!
Persevere!! I love mine, use it all the time. So unless you got a faulty one, it's got to be technique. If you can find an online video it might help? It's hard to imagine how the paper is ripping - you're using the punch bit to punch a hole before using the setter bit for the eyelet? Sorry to ask the obvious;)
I am posting this reply then hopefully another one with some links to online tutorials or videos as it says I need to have made 3 posts or more to include external links.
Another thought, just of the top of my head, is that you may be squeezing too hard.
There is a bit of a learning curve involved with how hard to squeeze your eyelets. I would try half of the effort your using now, and see if that stops the eyelet from breaking. Every eyelet is different too, cheap dollar store eyelets take way less pressure to set than my SU! ones.
Good luck!

I ave also noticed that different eyelets take different pressures. I was putting an eyelet in something Sunday that had taken a long time to make and put the eyelet thru the paper. Also you have to keep in mind the weight of the paper. Vellum vs cardstock, etc. Practice makes perfect I hear.
Everyone at Splitcoast is so awesome! I read all of your advice and watched all of the videos, and you will never believe this -- I was putting the eyelet in upside down. In other words, I was using the prong to go into the base of the eyelet. Duh! Again, thanks so much -- you saved me a ton of money as my Crop is no longer going in the trash!
I saw this hint on another web-site forum about this exact situation and I never have a problem. It's a bit in the gutter...so forgive me please...it's worth it because it helps. man on top...woman on the bottom. Meaning prong side is always on the top. SORRY SORRY SORRY.
