I bought a Wink of Stella glitter marker and either I am doing something wrong or it is bone dry.
I shook it well and I can hear the mixing ball moving inside the barrel of the marker
I pressed repeatedly on the places on the barrel that say " press" and still the brush is bone dry .
What am I doing wrong ?

Barbara, there is a little black ring in the middle of the pen that you have to remove. Unscrew the pen at the brush end and remove the black ring, then screw it back on. Here is a video by Simon Says Stamp that explains it:

OMG Thank you !! Directions on the packaging to remove the black ring would have been useful
It is baffling that they assumed we would know we had to remove the black ring .
It works now
Thanks again!!

Mine had directions, but I've had it quite a while. I've seen some just shrink-wrapped, but mine was in a little box. And my directions said to store the pen vertically, brush side up.

I have purchased two of these pens. The first one I purchase a year or so ago had directions and the second one did not. ???? I am not sure why they would not include directions with their product.
Amazing!
The box is like a long narrow pillow box with an acetate window so we can see the marker. The top is fastened with a little piece of scotch tape.
After I opened the top of the box and removed the marker I did not see any printed directions nor printing on the inside the box
Who would think to open the long side of the box to look for the directions ?
Reminds me of a time many years ago when a friend gave my son a huge drum set for Christmas. After the kids were in bed I tackled assembling the drum set. There were no directions in the box so all I had was a pile of parts and fasteners and a picture on the front of the box. It took me hours to figure out how to assemble that set.
When I finished I turn the box over to open and flatten it to take it out to the trash and I saw the directions were printed on the "bottom" of the box .
I nearly cried

Several months back one of the ladies I bible journal with could not get her newly purchased WOS pen to work. I told her there was a trick but couldn't remember what it was. Next thing I know the whole group is on their phones searching for an answer: SCS, google, you tube, etc. What a sight
Mind you none of them are stampers but her's was saved from the trash thanks to my reading about it here.
Barb, I have not read all the posts on this thread so sorry if a repeat but fyi, per the manufacturer, the Wink of Stella brush markers should be stored vertically and the Wink of Stella tip markers should be stored horizontally (I have both types of their markers).

I love Wink of Stella (brushes) and use mostly clear and gold. If you use the gold over some darker colors, it doesn't look gold, just adds a sparkly warmth. Fun.
Luckily I learned about the ring from a Jennifer McGuire video.
In case anyone is interested, here's one of several Jennifer McGuire videos where she shows how to activate Wink of Stella shimmer pens. I chose this video because she demonstrates the same for the Spectrum Noir shimmer pens, and then compares the two: colors, brush tips, a downloadable chart. Fast forward to 15:30.
The first 15+ minutes are about coloring and making cards with the Spectrum Noir (since they were new when she made the video) on cardstock and vellum.
I have Wink of Stella in clear/silver/gold, and Spectrum Noir in clear. While I'm more a silver than gold person, I reach for the clear most and the gold second (to put on darker cardstock just to warm it up).
I find Winks a little more subtle and like the shorter, finer brush tip and that you can buy just one instead of a Spectrum 3-pack. But I like the Spectrum too.
