I am wanting to buy a scallop border punch but I don't know what one to get. I need your help to decide. Just in case you don't know what I am talking about here are some pictures of cards made from each punch.
Hi! I would buy that scalloped circle punch either from a SU demonstrator or buy an EK Success scalloped punch. They are the same thing. Joann.com and createforless.com have a great selection of punches! You can not go wrong with that particular punch. Sorry, I do not know anything about the Fiskars punches. Good Luck! Mona
I have the Fiskars one, and I love it. The only downside to it, is that you have all these little tiny dots to clean up when you're done. I know of some that use the SU one, and then manually put the holes in it. So it just depends on if you want the holes or not.
Location: If anyone figures that out, PLEASE let me know!

I have the SU punch and highly recommend it. Normally I am not vendor oriented, but I can tell you that I have a whole drawer full of punches bought at JA and Michaels that are basically worthless. They do not punch clean, they stick, or do not punch all edges etc. At least with an SU product they stand behind poor craftsmanship issues. As for the round scallop punch, I would spend my money on a Cuttle Bug or Big shot with some Nesties. In the long run it will be money much better spend than single punches.
Thanks for all you input! I am liking a few of those new fiskars punches. The thing is that I am in Canada so we are always SO late getting things here at our local scrap/stamp stores.
I am still on the fence about what scallpo border punch to get but, I have another quick question about the word window punch. Is this one that you use often is it worth the $20.00Can? or can I get the same look another way?
Thanks again in advance for all your ideas and suggestions.
I have both of those punches and really like both of them. Like others have said, it's really personal preference. If you cant decide, you might need both! LOL! I also have the word window punch and I think it is worth the $20 Canadian (I am Canadian too). I have used it a lot ... and even when I'm not using it, I like knowing that it is available there for me to use, just in case I want to use it that day. Good luck deciding ... have fun! Where in Canada are you?
When I was making the same decision, I chose the SU! one because then I had 2 ways of making a scalloped border. W/ the fiskars one, you only can make it with the holes. With the SU! you can make it with or without the holes. Andrea
You can make the tag from the Word Window punch almost any length. Gina K Designs has tips on how to do that. When I saw that I could customize the length of the tag, I couldn't buy the punch fast enough!
I own both of them. Personally, I find that I use the SU one the most because I don't want the little holes on a lot of my projects. They both work equally well, so it is really a matter of preference. Would you prefer hole on all of your scallops, or do you want the option of not having them?

Hi Deb. I am also from Winnipeg, but am currently spending 3 months in Mesa.Lots of good "junk" here.
I am busy checking out the stores here and picking up tools that I cant get at home. I already have a scalloped scissor and just use the tiny 1/8" hole punch ,and dont mind doing that when I am only doing one or two pieces.
I have both of them, but if you can only get one, I would get the SU one because....if you want to layer the scallops, it is harder to layer the scallops (although it can be done) with the fiskars punch due to the hole it in.
Here's a question that's a little off topic, but not too much...
I have the Fiskars punch, but I find it doesn't feel very "sturdy". It works fine and I haven't had any problems with it at all, but it just feels like one of these days the plastic lever part is going break off and go flying across the room. How does the SU! one compare?
And allow me a mini-rant while we're on the topic of punches... Why can't them make them LONGER??? Not that it's hard to line them up, but it would be a lot less fuss to just have to punch once!!
Okay, I'm done now... LOL!

OH!! Another thing.....the way they punch....I love the fact that the SU punch punches from the back side of the punch (away from the side that the paper feeds in). On the fiskars punch, you have to punch down on the lever on the same side of the punch where you slide the paper in. This is awkward, in my opinion. You have to hold the punch, line up your paper and then press the lever away from you. I don't like this....a man must have designed this.....lol.....no offense guys.....
