Default Has anyone used the Stardust Pens by Sakura?

I was wondering if they clog up or dry up easily? I seen them used on Gina K's website and they look really neat.

I have had my clear ones for a couple of years and they still work perfectly. I have never had a problem with them but I don't use them often. I did use one this week on this card.I used Gina K's technique on it.

I love these pens and use them often! I have clear, gold and silver, but definitely use clear the most.

I ordered a couple of twin packs of the clear to have on hand because I can't find them locally, and want to have them always at the ready.

When I finish coloring an image, I can always find a little something to outline with the clear pen for just a hint of sparkle to set it off.

They don't clog or skip, but do try to hold the pen fairly straight up and down and not at an angle when you use them for the best results.

I love the clear Stardust...they are such awesome pens for adding a little sparkle. I usually have at least 3 unopened packages on hand because mercy...what would I do if I ran out..lol

Thumbs up

I love all of the Gelly Roll pens by Sakura - especially the Stardust. Their white Gelly Roll is wonderful. I wouldn't buy any other brand of gel pens ever again. The Sakura pens are the best.

I used them all the time even before they're marketed in the states. I fly to Asia all the time. In Asian market, like Japan and Hong Kong, instead of calling Gelly Roll / Stardust, they are called Tiara. They are exactly the same pens by Sakura. They(12 different color pens) usually come in a very cute pencil case and are alot cheaper than the states. I bought mine forless than US$10.00.

Here are some pics:

Had mine for a couple of years and never had an issue with them clogging up. I go thru the clear ones like crazy somaybe they don't have a chance to, but the colored ones are still rolling along just fine.

I use the clear one frequently and have had it for awhile and have never had a problem with it.

My kids have the colored/Tiara ones and my dd loves to use them for coloring. No clogging, no problems (and she's only 4, almost 5 and is not always gentle with them).

I love them, just wish I could find a brown one somewhere. I like coloring with them; sometimes they appear streaky; could be due to holding it as thought writing with it instead of holding it straight as a previous poster mentioned.

I have these pens in various colors but like the Spica Clear one by the Japanese company, Too Marker Products, Inc. even better because you can't see the line left by the 'ink' in which the glitter is suspended. My complaint with the Spica is that it runs out TOO fast - I am on my 5 - 6 clear pen. I have others colors of Spica and don't use them as often so they are fine. I am on my 2nd Sakura clear pen right now - have been using Sakura for about 2 yrs. I use these pens to add glitz to my Prima flowers all the time besides other parts of my card fronts.

I have the clear and the pink. Yesterday I ordered sets of some of the other colors from ScrapbookingAlley.com. I ordered green, red, black and blue. Those were all the colors they had. I would have ordered any and all other colors, had they had them. I guess you can tell I LOVE them. I made a red card with a geisha stamped in black stazon and I covered her Kimona with the clear and it is really beautiful, if I do say so myself. LOL

BTW, could someone tell me where to find other colors?

Thanks, Millie

I love mine! I use them a lot now because my DH was fussing that there was glitter all over the hobby room (ok it really is all over the entire house). It wouldn't be so bad if it was just me in there. But he builds model cars and has his music equipment in there as well. He tells me how bad glitter is for electronics. I love the pens because they add just the right amount of shimmer without getting glitter over everything! I have lots of colors and several clear ones. I haven't had any clogging problems at all!

I just went to www.scrapbookingalley.com and ordered 1 pkg of blacks and 2 pkgs of clear. They have the whole set for around $18 (16 pens of different colors ). Gosh I love that site - the prices are better than most places and NEVER any shipping charges. It's almost as good as going to the store. I've placed about 6 orders with them, and if I place my order over a weekend I get my pkg always by wednesday. Not bad.

Another happy user of Sakura clear Stardust pens! I use them quite often and have not had any problems with skipping, clogging or blotching. They leave a very fine line of glittery gold toned stardust....wish they had another clear one with silver toned stardust. I store my Stardust pens flat - don't know if that's necessary, but it obviously hasn't hurt the way the ink dispenses.

As to where to find them, I got mine at Archivers. They have most of the colors there, either in a complete set or packages of 2 of the same color.

I LOVE mine! They are the best I think. They don't clog up and they show up great.
Its the Copic Spica Pens that I will never buy again. Half of the ones I bought quit working soon after.

LOVE my Stardust pens especially the clear and red. The red is wonderful for berries, Santa hats, scarfs, etc. Never had any problems with them and I've been using them for around three years.

Oh yes. I totally agree with you. I bought a Spica clear glitter pen and hated it. It barely had any glitter.

I love them too! I think I have all the colors - 12? - but I probably use the clear the most. I wish they had a black one. I've been wondering about ordering the spica ones but it sounds like they're not so great.

I have this problem with my stardust pens and the metallics too; although with the metallics I can go back over the area to smooth out that "suspended line" look. Not so with the Stardust pens. Maybe I'm coloring my image the wrong way because I can always see "streaks" or lines after I've colored in my image with the Stardust pens. Don't get me wrong; I'd much rather color with glitter using these pens than using loose glitter and glue. I just think I might be doing something wrong with my technique, YKWIM?

I've had some for over two years now, possibly three, and they are still going strong. As in, a couple of colours have been replaced because they ran out (clear, green), but any of the others certainly haven't dried up.

LUV them! Not sure why, but my Joann's had them for .50 the other day.....when I asked, they said that they were getting rid of them? Bought all my favorites and then a few I didn't have! SCORE!

I love them and have several colors. I love to add a nice touch of sparkler to desinger papers as they are more subtle than glitter but still you get the "bling". This is one product I say you need to have. If you can only have one, get the clear.

Question

I was planning on ordering the Sakura pens.

One question about these: How do you store them? Vertically or horizontally? I am really tired of the other brands of gel pens now working, so I do not want to take any chances with these Sakura ones.

Thanks

I have a lot of the Sakura pens and love them as well but I would say I use the clear more than any of them.

I tried the Spica ones as well and there isn't very much glitter in them.

I am a pen fanatic and love glitter pens. Have tried every one out there on the market except for the Spica. Hands down, my faves are the Sakura Jelly Roll Stardust. I have had them for 7-8 years, and every time I pull them out of the box to use, they are ready to go. I use every color, and just found the clear a short while ago. Love it also, and need to buy extra. Feel the same way about the Sakura metallics - no other pens like these on the market. Just wish more colors were available! I have thrown/give away all of my other glitter pens...
