Default Glue for tins ?

Hi .. I need help please .. relatively new to cardmaking / crafting .. which glue would be best to use for tin ? I've got some small tins that I want to decorate with paper / buttons etc.

I've got Anita's tacky pva glue and also Pinflair. The idea being the Pinflair would be for the embellishments but would the pva ve strong enough / suitable for paper onto tin ? Or do I have to buy something called Modge Podge ?

Thanks in advance ...

Another vote for Mod Podge. I have seen some girls use Golden Acrylic Matte Medium. I am going to try this next time I alter a tin. Mod Podge is cheaper and lasts forever.

Mod Podge is great but it can sometimes retain a slight "tackiness" even when it's completely dry so it's not everybody's first choice, depending on the project in hand.

I've recently used Ranger's Glue n Seal to glue cardstock to a coffee tin (pic attached) and that worked really well even on the curved surface.

Your tacky PVA might well do the trick though. Why not try on a tin you're about to toss in the recycling (soda can, for example) with a scrap of paper? the trick is usually to make sure you have glue all the way to the edges of the paper and smooth it down really firmly.

Another suggestion I have is to rough up the surface first by giving it a light sanding. That will give the slick surface some tooth and your glue will hold better. I usually use Mod Podge, but as Angelnorth said, it can remain slightly tacky even when its dry. I've used a light coating of spray varnish when this has happened.
