Question GLIMMER Mist vs. MEMORY Mist...are they the same?

I've been on the Stamp A Mania site all afternoon...off and on. They have a product called Memory Mist that you can spritz onto your artwork. It comes in different colors. When I went looking for it in our SCS Gallery, the results kept coming back with projects that had GLIMMER MIST on them.

Are they the same thing? I couldn't see any little spritzles on the cards. Have you tried one or both? Comments?

As always...MANY thanks!

Most ink sprays, aka mist, are the same basic idea. Ink, mica powder for shimmer and water. Glimmer Mists, Adirondack Color Wash (no shimmer), Smooch Spritz, etc. etc. there are tons of brands out there that essentially do the same thing. You can make your own very easily, there are quite a few older threads discussing the best ways to do it.

Thanks, Katarina, for the info. I do remember something about making your own "stuff." My problem is by the time I get all the supplies lined up, I might as well have bought the "real" thing. The Memory Mist is on sale for $3 a bottle and I thought that sounded like a good deal.

Sure wish I knew if it was "shiny" or not.

I don't think the Memories Mists are shimmery. You could add some Pearl Ex or Perfect Pearls to it to make it shimmery.

That's what I wondered. I have some Pearl Ex that is OLD...most of my supplies are over 17 years old. But, I'm sure that they must still be ok. What could happen to them anyway? I'm going to give it a shot and see if they come out shiny....once my Memory Mist arrives. Thanks so much for your help!

I make my own... Fill a craft bottle, the ones that look like typical acrylic paint bottles, about a half inch from the top with water, Ranger Ink (2-3 drops), Mod Podge (one dip of a chopstick to about 2"), and a scoop with the tip of another chopstick of pearlex or perfect pearls depending on what matches the look I'm trying to achieve. Approximate cost for all of the supplies with coupons for the Mod Podge, ink and pearlex is about $30 for an endless supply.

You can put this in a spray bottle but if this is what you want to do then start with really small amounts of the powder and add it in really small (microscopic small) quantities since too much will clog the bottle. I personally prefer to use a sponge with both this formula and GM because I think the sprayers are too wet.
