Default Free Watermark -- today only (4-12) *merged*

I saw this on another site. It looks like a great deal especially if you want your work to protected.

http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/watermark-factory/

From the website......

Watermark Factory allows you to add text or image watermark to any picture. Protect your copyrights or simply add comments and date stamps to any picture.

This useful program has beautiful and easy to use interface.

You will be able to process thousands of files in a few seconds.

It works with EXIF and IPTC information.

Also Watermark Factory allows converting images into various formats and batch file renaming.

Default Free Watermark -- today only (4-12)

just discovered a site called Give Away of the Day.
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/

Today, April 12, you can download Watermark Factory. This is a $50
program which allows you to add a watermark text to any image. This
is a great way to add the copyright information to pictures that you
want to share.

The download is only free until midnight. Check it out.

I have no idea how to use this program. I have just been playing with it and don't have a sniff what to do. Does anyone else use it?

Just downloaded and installed this - in case anyone hasn't realized this, it looks like it's only free for 15 days. Then a license will need to be purchased to use it.

I've just been playing around with this and it's really cool and pretty easy to use. Unfortunately, anything that you put a watermark on during the trial period seems to be stamped with Watermark Factory Free Trial in addition to the watermark I created. Am I doing something wrong or do they just really want me to buy the software?!

I downloaded and installed on both my desktop and my laptop. I played around with it and it sure seems easy. I know I can add watermarks in Photoshop Elements and Paint Shop Pro, but this program works great for JUST adding watermarks. (And I like FREE things.)

I haven't used this yet, but read in another thread that the watermarks include the product name, and that the free offer is only a fifteen day trial. Have you run into any of these "features" Kim?

I downloaded and installed this program.

I'm attaching an image that I added the watermark to. I don't see any sort of "Watermark Factory Free Trial" stuff on my photo. Did you install the "activation" file before you installed the "setup" file??

I just played around with it and I could put my own text as the watermark; no other promotional text showed up on my watermarked images, neither under my watermark nor in the corner of the image anywhere. Haven't run into the 15 day thing yet; usually programs that have that kind of limit yell it at you every time you start up or shut down. Keeping my fingers crossed! Still haven't figured out how to add an image as watermark yet, but I also have yet to actaully read any documentation.

I believe the activation file needs to be run in order to update the registry so that you do own the program without needing to purchase a license.

For those of you who have mentioned the 15 day trial, etc.:
  1. Did you first run the activation.exe file prior to running the setup.exe file? The readme.txt file mentions that the files need to be run in this order.
  2. Where do you see the mention of this being a 15-day trial and then needing to purchase a license?

When you are installing and have to check the box for the license agreement, it says this is a trial version and to continue to use it after 15 days you must purchase a license.

I'm wondering if this is just their "standard" license agreement stuff. I think the activation program that needs to be run may actually overwrite the "trial period." I guess I'll find out in 15 days. I did try to reinstall the program so that I could read the license instead of blindly agreeing like I did before.

Here's a link to the "About" page regarding the Giveaway of the Day:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/about/

The idea behind this initiative is that many sites and publishers offer trial downloads; but only we offer giveaway downloads. What does that mean?
Basically, every day we nominate one software title that will be a Giveaway title of that day. The software will be available for download for 24 hours (or more, if agreed by software publisher) and that software will be absolutely free. That means - not a trial, not a limited version - but a registered and legal version of the software will be free for our visitors*.

* Under specific Terms and Conditions, which limit the software usage to non-commercial only, and may also limit software updates and technical support.

This makes a lot of sense. I know frex the trial of Photoshop Elements is actually the full version with key parts of the code set to lock the program up after the trial period is over, but once you by the licence you get an activation number that opens up the program again.

You do need to "activate" first before doing the "setup".
Here is a picture I was playing around with...It does not have
the free trial stuff on it. In the readme text it does state that
you have to activate before doing the setup.

The online tutorial is really good and walks you step by step.

You might be. I believe the activation had to be done by midnight last night. Once you activate, a web page is opened that says that you've successfully activated the software. Did you see that? (I hope!!)

Kimberly

PS. The new free software is Web X. My DH read that Microsoft will no longer be releasing new versions of FrontPage. That bums ME out as that is what I really like to use. I suppose I'll have to switch to Dreamweaver or something like that. (I'm not against any other software, just that I really like FP.)

No, I see where that is now -- it was activate.exe in the file and I didn't do it. I am sad!
