Default Found SU Gold, Silver, Copper, Shimmer paper online

Just wanted to pass this on, as there have been TONS of discussion on this. I have found which brand of paper SU uses for thier gold, silver, copper and shimmer white papers. Here is the breakdown.

Gold-Curious Metallics Gold Leaf-92lb
Silver-Curious Metallics Galvanized-92lb
Shimmer-Curious Cryogen White-89lb
Copper-Curious Venom-92lb

All of these have been verified by me except the copper, since I don't have a piece of the SU copper, however I have seen it before and believe this to be the match.

I ordered a sample pack from Cut Carstock in order to do my comparisons. I also check the Stardream Metallics as I was told those might be a match, alas, it is the Curious brand all around that matches. I love the SU card stock, but hate paying 75 cents a sheet for this, as it just makes it too expensive to use on anything major. The prices I found for the Curious paper at two places priced out at 32 to 33 cents a sheet for the gold, silver and copper and either 25 to 29 cents per sheet on shimmer white.
Much better prices in my opinion and for demos you can then do cards with it, without incuring the HUGE cost of the paper! Here are the two websites I found to be the most economical. You might find it cheaper some where, but after I looked at shipping it wasn't cheaper. If you are unsure, order a sample pack for yourself, and compare!

Cut Cardstock
The cryogen white is under the irridescents and the gold, silver and copper are under the metallics. The prices for the metallics are 16.00 a 50 pack and the cryogen white is 14.50 per 50 package. They ship either USPS or UPS, you can choose. Once you put the paper in your cart you can calculate shipping.

Paperzone

This is the second place you can find this paper, the problem here is that they do not have the copper color paper at all that I could find, although thier prices are a bit cheaper on the cryogen white, they are a bit more expensive on the gold and silver. Shipping ran a bit more from these folks too, but wanted to give some options.

Like I said, I am sure you can find other places on the net, these are just the two I have used and have experiance with. Both give great service. Hope this helps someone out there!

Yes, it is the exact same paper that SU uses. I had it verified by two demonstrators tonight at the stamp camp I went to. I laid both side by side and neither could tell the difference. It is the same paper. If in doubt, order a sample pack, it is only 7 dollars, plus shipping, best money I ever spent!

Dang, wish I would have known this when I was still working at the print shop, we can get paper samples whenever we want, and one of our distributors sold Curious papers. Guess I will have to call in a favor.

I'm one of the lucky ones to have a PaperPlus close to me that carries the Curious papers. I bought a pack of the silver and it is gorgeous paper!

They sell some of these colors (I know the blue and green for sure) at our local Archivers. I'm assuming they are the same because they seem identical to the SU white shimmer paper to me...

But I'm having an issue with the Cut Cardstock site... I can't seem to find the Cryogen white on there. Am I missing something?

For another yummy pack of metallic papers, you should get the Stardream metallic papers, they have more colors and their gold is more closer to what I think a gold looks like, rather then an antiqued gold. They have a yummy puple in it and many other bright vibrant metallic colors.
Stardream Metallics 105lb

Somthing I like about Cutcardstock, when they send you your order they include 1 or 2 sample sheets of text weight metallic paper, and they also print your invoice on metallic paper, well, the nice thing is, the whole back is blank, and you can't see through it. I am going to use these for layering onto cards, to give them some metallic pop! I put in two orders and got 2 different colors for my invoices..totally cool! LOL, and the customer service was out of this world with them!

I think I might be a little dense. If I get a pack of 50, it's .47 a sheet (16.00 + 7.95 / 50). Right? For the SU paper, I'd have to order 3 packs to have 50 but it would only be .41 cents (6.95*3 = 20.85 and with tax & shipping it's 25.84 plus 3.95 shipping / 60). With my demo discount, it would be even less. Am I missing something or looking at the wrong thing?

I just received my order of Curios paper from Paper-papers.com and the Venom is not even a close match to the SU copper. It is a completely different color. The silver and cryogen white seem to match. Has anyone found a match for the copper?

Wow, really? That's interesting. I would venture to guess that if there is a match it would be with the curious line, but I could be wrong. Would seem odd to go through a number of different manufacturers for paper. Can you upload a picture of the SU copper and a picture of the venom beside of it? I did say this was the only one I did not have a paper sample to match with. Anyone want to RAK me with a cardsize piece of the SU copper so I can compare it to the different metallics I have here?

and you know, thinking about it, they do tend to go with the older looking tones for thier colors anyways, with the gold leaf, and the galvanized..

I've been using the Curious paper for awhile now. I purchase paper for a living.. (unfortunately, mostly white paper so don't get too excited) for a large commercial printer.
And, if you really want to try some really cool paper from Curious... check out the Touch Soft. It feels like ... ?fabric? smooth suede? soft and cushy. my favorite color is called whipped cream... and it feels like real whipped cream tastes... kinda hard to describe.

wicked cool! have you found a nice heavy white paper yet that is smooth like SU's white? Wonder where we would find the touch soft, never heard of it before.

Wow! Thank you so much for this information. I was just thinking the other day that I would use the Shimmer paper more, if it wasn't so expensive.
