Default Double sided tape?

Can anyone recommend a double-sided, easy tear tape that's also acid free?  Thank you!

Scor Tape is acid-free, and you can tear it.

Ditto Scor-Tape. It’s sold in many on-line stamp shops and amazon and comes in many sizes, including sheets, so shop around, but sometimes good deals are to be had on the Scor-Tape site. They send out very few emails but there are discounts when they do. https://scor-pal.com/store/

An author/instructor who makes books and albums only uses Scor-Tape.

I use Xpress it a lot. Decent price point, tearable, acid free. Many people carry it. I have not had any problems with it coming off paper. In fact it will likely peel the base paper if left long enough.

I have sookwang in the house but I think that is the same thing as Scor Pal? I think Sookwang is the Mfg in china? People told me sookwang is the strongest.

I came across a roll of scrapbook.com tape at 1/8 inch but I have not tried it yet and I expect it is made by a tape mfg. Its says China but that does not mean Sookwang necessarily. I was just happy to find that dimension.

Whatever tape you use be sure it is NOT a strip with adhesive on both sides!  I came across a card I made a year or so ago and the adhesive had dried out and a strip of paper was left.  Also the adhesive had left a stain on both sides of the card stock I had glued together.  I am sticking to liquid adhesive from now on...we will see how that works out!

I have used a few different kinds. I do like Scor-tape the best and it seems be the same as Sookwang.  I have used Tombow, which I purchased locally at Hobby Lobby or Michaels in both 1/4 and 1/8 inch.  I tend to cut any tape I use, so I can't say whether you can tear it.  I have used SU Tear and Tape, I think it is called and I have Gina K Designs double sided tape adhesive.  All seem to work the same.  I can tear Gina K tape, SU tape, Scor-tape, but usually cut them.  Many are available on Amazon.

That would rule out all double-sided tape, wouldn't it? I use a "snail" or Scotch tape runner and I have not had any issues with it.

I see what you mean. For Scor-Tape and others, when you pull on a piece from the roll, the underside is sticky. You press it down and peel off the top.

So when on the roll the underside of the tape is on the topside it’s wrapped around that will be peeled off. Yikes, that’s clear as mud right? Who’s on first?! lol

Scor-pal has a 15% off code at checkout: LOVE15

(I haven’t compared pricing directly from Scor-pal to other on-line shops.)

I am not understanding what you are saying Sue. You used a tape that has a paper core with adhesive on both sides? I dont think I have ever seen that.

Another vote for Scor-tape or Sookwang. When we lived overseas, the off-brands were very cheap - their adhesive lasted a few years and then either dried and died or yellowed the paper.

I also tried the Scrapbook.com tape, and didn't care for it - it doesn't have the same tensile strength as the brands I'm used to, and doesn't stay on the liner as well during placement.

It's not a real paper core but looks like and feels like a piece thin tissue.  I have no idea what it was because it was a long while ago but I had sookwang, score tape, Tombow and a couple of others at the same time.

That's what happened to my cheap Chinese tapes.

I will only use Scor tape or Sook Wang.  The cheap ones are terrible.  And I agree with Dina that the Scrapbook.com tape (while better than the really cheap ones) is not as good as Scor or Sook Wang.

Just to clarify for newbies, Scor-Tape is Sook Wong and you can read that on it.

At one time I used Redline tape but wasn’t entirely happy and switched to Scor-Tape. Some like it though.

Sookwang is the Korean company that supplies Scor-Tape's product. I use a lot of it and use only Scor-Tape because it has writing on the liner and I have gotten used to it helping me see where to cut it. I think people forget it needs to be burnished to enhance its strength. That ensures 100% contact. Sometimes I hear little air bubbles pop as I'm burnishing. For those who need just a little room to move item for placement, it helps to rub some glue stick on the tape before adhering.

I love this tip! A little liquid glue with it works too - Mary did that in her tutorial a couple of weeks ago.

I burnish with a fingernail or bone folder, depending, but have never experienced bubbles. Unfair, bubbles are fun.

Yes, a great way to use our slower drying glues!

All the double sided tape I've ever used is what they call tissue tape, so it is a see-thru tape.
Carpet tape is white so maybe that has a core to make it stronger, but I wouldn't use that on cards anyway.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Scrapbook.com tape. This Ma be off topic a bit, but any thoughts on their foam tape? The prices are good, so I was considering them for my next supply.

I have sooo many kinds of tape.  I use Scor-tape and Sookwang when I need narrow tape that holds well.  Otherwise for "everyday" use, it is Scotch double-sided tape.  It has a long life, is easy to find and I can always use a coupon.  It doesn't tear, though, so may not fit your purposes.

Just fyi for anyone who hasn’t used it, Scor-tape (which is Sookwang) comes in many widths and in different sized sheets. When I need triangular pieces, I cut them from their 6x6 sheets.

I found some at Tuesday Morning for dirt cheap and it tears with your fingers. Love it! It was $1.99 a roll, all widths.

Scor-Tape is The Best!  It tears with your fingers, stays where you put it, and lasts forever.  None of my cards has ever come apart.  I much prefer this "dry" adhesive to any damp (like glue-stick) or wet (like Tombow Multi, aka "green glue") ones.

I keep several widths of Scor-Tape next to me at all times so I can use whatever width I need to get the job done.  1/4" gets used the most, then 1/2"; 1" and 2-1/4" I use to back cardstock when cutting out dies so they're ready to be stuck down.

Don't skimp, secure your work with Scor-Tape.

You guys made me look again-and I just re-org'ed the tapes after we started this and I dont remember Oy

whew-I only have the one scrapbook.com tape-good to know. I wont get that again.

I have a roll of 1/8 Miracle tape. Anyone remember that one? This came from Viva Las Vegas. I also see a 1/4 from Elizabeth crafts and some red tape....

I still like xpress it high tack tape. Comes in DS foam too-I know bc I just accidentally got a roll thinking it was tape. pfft. LOL I tend to save the sookwang for heavier cards-lot of embellies or layers.

I burnish all tapes...I have always pressed any adhesives and hold them to ensure holding from before I started carding. Huh. Good tip on the mobility though. Thanks!

Miracle tape from Viva Las VegaStamps:

https://vlvstamps.com/miracle-tape.html

Been using it for years, best time to buy is Super Bowl time, when it's about 40% off.
