Question Difference between Vellum and Vellum cardstock?

I assume it's the thickness, but what would be better for running through the cuttlebug for an embossed backround.

Can't say that I am a pro at answering this but in my stash of stuff, vellum is transparant but vellum cardstock is opaque and I think the vellum word in this case has to do with the finish on the CS. The terms are confusing. I'm sure some paper officianato could answer better.

I've printed on vellum paper before, with no problems.

To the OP, I'm not too sure what the difference is between vellum paper and vellum card stock... I assume it's weight. But I DO know that the best one to use if you're dry embossing should the card stock. I have experience with using vellum paper with my cuttlebug folders and having it tear pretty badly, so that's why I went ahead and ordered the vellum card stock.

The UPS site shows that my order is to be delivered tomorrow, so I'll come back to this thread to let you know how it works! ;)

I'm not really familiar with the term "vellum cardstock" however at my LSS they have different thicknesses of vellum and I have found that their thickest one works best for me in when embossing. I guess it might be called cardstock but it is really just heavy vellum. I emboss using the CB folders in my Sizzix.

Default Vellum Cardstock and Cuttlebug

Hi, I have run the SU vellum cardstock through the Cuttlebug (using the swirl folder) and it works quite nicely. There are a few minor places where the vellum might tear slightly from the pressure of the embossing but it by no means renders it unusable. For general staimping, I find the SU vellum paper from SU to be just a bit thin. I prefer the vellum paper from Close To My Heart for general stamping (but it is more expensive). HTH

well, I received my order and had some time to experiment, so I thought I'd pst my findings.

The the only difference between the vellum card stock and paper is just the weight - the card stock is definitely heavier. Still translucent (although not as much as the paper, of course) but definitely thicker. And when I ran a pice of it through my Sizzix machine with the Swirls embossing folder, it came out great! Not one tear. A few stress marks (areas that are a little white and that look like maybe they came *close* to tearing) but absolutely no tears. Certainly nothing like what I experienced with the vellum paper!

So I'd say that the only real difference between vellum card stock and the paper is the weight and that the card stock is definitely preferred when embossing with the CB folders. Hope this was helpful.
