Default Die-Versions

Has anyone used the Die-Versions dies? I have seen some that I really like.

I hadn't heard of these until you posted. Here is a link if anyone wants to check them out.

Die-Versions - Universally Crafty!!

They do have some interesting dies. I only have a Cuttlebug though, and I've had trouble with the intricate dies. Even with a metal shim, I still have places that don't cut cleanly.

From reading about these dies, you need to do a lot of experimenting and use different layers of cardstock shims to get them to cut properly.

Yes...I carry a lot of them in my on line store. They are very pretty nice dies. Some of them are different than the normal. I love the parasol and the new fence. Some of them are already out of stock everywhere.

Default Die-Versions

While at a rubber stamp show in Mesa I saw some and was informed they are made by Dies Direct who are the makers of CheeryLynn.
My friend bought two and I was the one trying to figure out how to cut them.
They do not have any of the little holes that cheeryLynn has, so its a real pita to clean out all those little pieces when you cut out i.e. Parasol. As well they have a little pad that comes with them that is supposed to help the dies come out. Guess what I wound up doing after trying different things to try to get those little suckers to come out cleanly. I wound up using paper shims, which was EXACTLY what they do in their video. Their video as of two months ago did not show how to use the little pads.

Several weeks later I found out how to use the pads and informed my friend, but have not heard what success she is having.
They are beautiful dies ,but not for all the work when they dont come out easily like others do.

Absolutely love them. We went to Ecstasy Crafts open house a couple of weeks ago and I went a little crazy. I haven't had any trouble with them yet.

the little extra pieces would come out pretty easily if you used some was paper between the die and what you are cutting. You might need to use it a few times with the was paper but it does make a world of difference.

Die-Versions announced to retailers that starting with the new June releases, all dies will come with the little poke holes. They also switched to a new factory so the dies now will cut like butter across all cutting tools. I saw a video demo of the new dies and everything just falls of the dies. So excited for this change!

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to fill you in a bit about Die-Versions! I'm so glad you've seen them, and are excited about our designs.

Any die that is very intricate and detailed IS going to require a certain amount of fiddling. The more scrolly the pieces, the more that is required to poke the negative shapes out of the finished die-cut.

However - I want to clear up a couple of things...Canada Goose talks about "pads". I think what she is referring to is the ejection foam that is included with each of our dies. It says on the packaging, and on our website to "Please adhere ejection foam directly over the cutting image." With the foam in place, these dies look just like QuicKutz/Lifestyle Crafts dies. And while we do recommend that our "Whispers" line cuts best on the Big Shot or the Vagabond {both by Sizzix} our fonts, SoloSentiments and shapes cut just fine in your Revolution, Epic Six, Cuttlebug and Grand Calibur.

That being said - we have just recently changed our method of production. We discovered at CHA, and in the spring, that most European and Asian die-cutters/crafters use the Cuttlebug, and we wanted our Whispers dies to be available to them. After much research, work, and tweaking design specifications - we have switched to a manufacturer that actually coats our dies. Think of it as "Pam for dies". HAHA :p You will also see "escape holes" from now on!

thanks ladies! I always enjoy talking to crafters that love die-cutting.

Susan

Default Die -Versions

Susan you are correct, I was referring to the ejection foam pads.I forgot the correct name.I recently read about your new dies and thats great news. The dies are beautiful ,but not if you get frustrated at the length of time it takes to clean out all those holes especially if you want to do a number of them. I wont say how long it took me to cut out 5 dies and clean out the die after, but enough that I would not purchase a whisper die in that form, so good to know this is being remedied. .

FYI I cut mine out on a cuttlebug I had at my disposal at the time, that my friend asked me to try them. While I did have to use some paper shims to cut them out which worked fine, it was the cleaning out of the die that was the problem.

Thanks for your post, and I look forward to your new and improved "Whispers".
