Debating buying in colors
So I was just wondering...I am getting ready to place an order and I really like the in colors of 08, however I don't want to buy them because they are going to retire in a year. I didn't buy any of the in color 07 because of this but I really like the in color 08.
How many of you purchased the in color 07? Are you still going to be using them even though they aren't around any more. Do you have any remorse for buying them?
How many will be buying or have bought the in color '08?
Thanks for your help!

I only bought three of last year's In Colors -- Cool Caribbean, Vintage Violet, and Cranberry Crisp. I do not regret it. I actually saw a card today using Cool Caribbean with Groovy Guava and it was gorgeous. I bought a combo pack of the cardstock to see how I liked them. My three favorites this year seem to be Groovy Guava, River Rock, and Wild Wasabi. I have them on my first order -- ink and cardstock.

I only buy what I LOVE. And I LOVE cool caribbean! LOVE IT! I'm really loving wild wasabi so I will definitely getting paper and ink along with the assorted paper set in my first order.
I'm not one to care about "retired" colors or things like that. I get what I love and what I will use.

I know before I became a demo I purchased a ton of paper and ink from JoAnn's and Michaels and none of it matched and there were no reinkers available and I never gave it another thought (I know -- I was a very inexperienced stamper then).
At least with SU you know that in June of next year you will have the opportunity to stock up on the card stock and reinkers that you love, and that will go a long way! Plus the investment in the pads and card stock is not so large when you spread it out over the course of the year. Why deprive yourself of gorgeous colors you love? Get them now so you can get the maximum use out of them!

I bought an assorted pack of the 07 colors... I don't regret it! I didn't buy any of the ink and didn't stock up on the paper b/c there were no colors that I LOVED! I really do like the new in colors so will buy what I like. Like M2J said I don't really care if something will retire... if I love it, I buy it!

I too just buy the in colours that I love ... which this year are Blue Bayou, Purely Pomegranate and Soft Sky. I know that I will use them all year long and then buy enough to last me even longer ... I say go for it!

Thanks everyone! I guess I really just needed to know it is okay to buy it because I love it and will use it. I just will be sad to see them go and I don't even own any of them yet. I think I like them all!

I am sad to see cranberry crisp and cool caribbean go, but believe me, getting the new in colors went a long way to help me get over the sadness. The new colors are awesome! I got them all! I especially love River Rock, Purely Pomegranate and Soft Sky!

Thank a lot!! I already had my mind made up that I was NOT going to buy any In Colors this year. Maybe the assorted pack is the way to go for now. I ended up buying Marigold and Caribbean three months before they retired because I loved them yet put off buying them, and had to stock up fast. I'm really starting to like Groovy Guava, though.

Well, I am not a demo, I just buy all of colors and like to keep up with all of colors. I'm one of those who needs to have EVERYTHING. So what if they retire in a year, I just buy a pad, reinker, pack of cardstock (single color, not assorted) in every color. I use reinker to ink up blender pens to make markers and juice up the inkpad whenever they ever actually dries out.

I got Carribean, Marigold and Violet last year, and I got everything but Bayou this year! I love the new colors, so fun.

I bought felt ink spots from Welburn Gourd Farm and then I bought the re-inkers!
Did the same thing last year. That way I have the spots, less money and they last forever!

Last year I bought all the IN Colors-both the inkpads and the paper. I don't regret buying them all but I really like the Cranberry and Caribbean the best. So this year I'm being a little more selective. I'm not buying the blues yet, but I am planning on getting the paper and pads for the other 4. I really like those colors and figure I've got a lot of blues. I may change my mind on Soft Sky later but not in a hurry right now.

I like the in colors because they seem to "bridge the gap" sort of speak with the other SU colors. For instance there was previously not a deep red before cranberry crisp, nor a blue-purple until vintage violet. I think the new guava color fills the void for lack of a lack "peach" in the original "48" etc. Just wish they would sell MARKERS!!! Oh well, the reinkers and assorted colors paper packs work for my taste (and budget).

I'm struggling with whether to buy any of them at all. Just a question....has anyone noticed how close groovy guava and cameo coral are. I know there have been some comparison pics uploaded but I haven't seen any with those two colours.

I got three of last years colors and don't regret it at all! I see three of this years colors that I *have* to have, too! Pomegranite, guava and wasabi are my favorites this year, not a huge investment really!

At first, I only bought the Cool Caribbean, Cranberry Crisp and Vintage Violet (Pads, re-inkers and paper-single color packs). Those were the ones I really liked a lot. I wasn't going to buy the others at all--until--I went to a stamp camp and we used all of the retiring '07 in colors...well, that was it for me. I ended up buying the other three colors in stamp pads, re-inkers and paper. I'm easily swayed, I guess. This year, so far, I'm only planning on purchasing the Guava and Wasabi--but I'm sure that as soon as I see the others used in different ways, I'll want those, too. I bought an extention kit for my stamp pad tower and I've only got 5 more slots left!!!! Now what do I do????

If you look at the swatches in the catalogs, yes, Groovy Guava looks like it might be like Cameo Coral. But, the two colors are VERY different. Cameo is more on the pink side, guava more light orangey peach.

I bought them all last year...single color packs, ink pads, and reinkers. I really loved Caribbean and Marigold, so I bought two more packs of each before they were gone for good. I'll buy them all again this year! I love having more colors to work with!

I just went ahead and let SU! get me by the proverbial, uh.....nads on this one! I bought them all last year, have 2 re-inkers of each color and quite a few packs of the CS stored up. I have bought all the new In Colors, because I like them. So what if they won't be available after this year. My biggest peeve about the In Colors is the lack of markers. I'm shocked that with all the people wanting the markers in the In Colors that SU! won't make them....just another way to make a few more $$$ off us, right?

Here is a pic of Groovy Guava in comparison to Cameo Coral and Really Rust. IMO guava is a better match for the rust -- a slightly lighter version.

I bought a few of the 07 colors, but I made sure to buy cardstock and reinkers for the colors I got. I'll be doing the same thing this year. I'm not one to need to be completely matchy matchy so it doesn't bother me at all.

I'm not a demo so it's not a huge issue for me. I just buy what I like. I got the assorted paper, the ink pads in Cool Caribbean, Violet, Thyme, Cranberry, and the darker blue one... the only one I skipped was marigold.
This time I'll get the assorted paper and the pomegranite, wasabi, guava for sure. Not sure about River Rock, Blue Bayou, or Sky.

It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all
I am buying them, heck I will be sick of em in a year. If only we could do this with our husbands! *totally kidding*

How many of you purchased the in color 07? Are you still going to be using them even though they aren't around any more. Do you have any remorse for buying them?

Sure you're kidding!
My motto is buy one of everything, let it sit around for year "hoarding" it! Use it later only if I have more!

Must haves at my house. All six ink pads, reinkers, and packages of card stock went out in the first order. I would have gotten the ribbon, too, but I had to use the on-line catalog and didn't see it!!
