My beloved Cuttlebug just broke. I was running a die through it with extra card stcok and I heard a large cracking sound. Now it won't stay tight to die cut.
I need to replace it ASAP. Is the Big Shot better? Is it sturdier or better for some other reason?
Do you need extra plates and where do you purchase them?
I just asked a similar question on a Facebook page and absolute was told to get a big shot. It comes with everything that you need to get started cutting.0
I have a big kick and the newer cuttlebug. The Big Kick (same as big shot) is far better. Everything I needed came with my machine. I do not think my newer cuttlebug is of the same quality as my original.

Definitely the Big Shot. Much more industrial strength. My Cuttlebug broke after a year. Been using the Big Shot for years now and love it much better.
I went with a Big Shot and have never, ever regretted it. It's heavy duty and can cut larger and more heavy stuff than the Bug. It does take up more space than a Bug, since it doesn't fold up and it's heavier. Mine sits on the lid of a large storage box on the floor that holds all my dies, Framelits, embossing folders and accessories.
I have a very old Cuttlebug that was starting to have some problems with cutting dies evenly, so I bought the new version on sale. I hate it. The handle keeps folding in when I turn it and it doesn't not seem quite as wide as the old one. I do not get clean cuts on the detailed dies like Spellbinders. I did splurge again when Joann's had the Big Kick on a one day sale for $29. I have much better luck with the really detailed dies. It is easy to roll sandwiches through. I wound up buying some Sizzix dies that I absolutely love because the come out perfect instead of having to go through thirty-seven thousand steps to try to get a decent cut as you do with the Spellbinders dies.
