Default Cutting Help- Paper Cutter for mulitple pieces of CS

I have a CARL 12" rotary paper trimmer. It has been working fine for me for a year, for small projects. I have never replaced the blade or done anything to it. After making 50 moving cards for my sister, I thought that it was a pain to only cut one or 2 pieces of CS at once, but it wasn't that big of a deal. I replaced the blade and flipped over the cushony pad.

Since then I haven't had such precise cuts. Now I am on the verge of starting my holiday cards and I want to make 200 of them. I CAN'T IMAGINE this task with my current paper trimmer, so I want to get a new one.

Problem is, after reading the reviews on Amazon and Joann, and searching the forums here I can't figure out which one I need. Can anyone help?

I want a paper cutter that will work for at LEAST 2 pieces of CS and that has a guide to butt up against for cutting. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Tonic guillotine paper trimmer that I recently got from Joann.com. I LOVE it!!! I was looking for a good trimmer that would also cut multiple sheets of paper at one time. I have found that this does both for me. I seem to remember that I'd read it will cut up to 10 sheets of paper at one time. However, in my own testing, I am more pleased with the results when I cut less than 5. I would definitely recommend this trimmer...its great!!!

How many pieces of CS does it cut accurately?

When I asked about this one, someone said it was hard to cut because you had to line up your paper in an awkward way. I didn't understand what they meant. Do you have any troubles with it?

Also- the demo product guide says that it only cuts one piece of paper at a time. Since I was looking to cut a few at a time, I was wondering if this one would work. How many pieces of CS can you cut with the SU cutter?

I have the 12" base on my Tonic. With that base the whole sheet of paper (whether 12x12 or 8 1/2 x11) will lay flat on the cutting base. I have had success with 4 sheets of paper at one time. One thing I noticed that makes a difference is the speed at which you are cutting through the paper. You have to find that in-between speed...not super fast and not really slow. It seems to work well with a even steady motion all the way through the cut. Of course, I'm saying this about multiple sheets at one time. I think the final cut also makes a big difference depending on how much pressure you are putting on the clear bar that holds the paper down as you cut. A nice firm pressure works well for me here.

I just bought a new paper trimmer...
http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/ca...p?webid=605267
It is awesome! I helped a friend out cutting a bunch of cardstock for her cards, and I would cut 2 layers of cardstock at a time with a clean precise cut. You can cut a min of 1" to a max of 12". Seriously - this trimmer rocks. Especially if you are cutting multiples of one one size, it has an edger to hold it in place.

oh - another thing I love about it is that the guide is at the front of the trimmer (closest to you) which makes it alot easier!!!! I use my ruler to make sure the guide is exactly where I want it and lock the edger. Sometimes the edger moves a bit while locking, which is why I use my ruler so it stayes where I want it. It also has cm and inches etc on it.

Before this trimmer, I had the Staples DUO TRIM version which was good, but they didn't have a replacement for the guillitene (sp) blade which stopped cutting clean after about 6 months. I highly recommend this trimmer! It also has a 15 year warranty with it.

ok can you tell I love this trimmer! sorry for being so long winded. check it out!

Default posting of cutter won't work

your posting ask for a zip code, and U.S. post zip codes will not work on this site, states we are not a canadian zip code area; can't get URL to show cutter Carolyn

Thanks for including the new link. The trimmer even 'looks' awesome. I still have a couple of questions. Is it at all possible to trim paper less than an inch wide? Also, can you cut 3 pieces of cardstock, or only 3?

update.....
ok I cut four pieces (layers) together (same measurement) and it was tight. Wouldn't recommend more than 3 for sure to get a good clean cut.

I suppose you could cut less than 1 inch if you do the math backwards. umm I mean if you wanted 1/2" x 11" - you would line up your paper at 8" and cut so you would get the 1/2" as the cut part. clear as mud?? probably not.
hth

don't forget that it comes with a 12 or 15 yr warranty (can't remember exactly how many years) and to me the warranty alone is worth it!!!
glad I could explain a bit more!

shoot - I forgot to mention that it cuts a length of 12" but NOT WIDE. It is about 11.75" or so wide. If you are a scrapbooker of the 12 x 12 scrapbooks, this wouldn't be good. It is great for cards and such tho.
