Larger cutting bed (XL is 15" across) so you can cut true 12" + wide and unlimited in length.
More pressure so you can cut thicker stuff like chipboard.
Nice (although complicated) software. No need for cartridges; can cut anything that you can vectorized on your computer.
These are the things that swayed me to buy it (it was a gift, actually). However, I also have a Cricut Expression because it's so easy to use. I think of it like a point and shoot camera and a DSLR. Both have their uses. ;)
