In my opinion- well worth it, especially with use of a coupon. DH brought me mine because he was tired of hearing me pound the hammer to set eyelets, even though I rarely use eyelets anymore- I still love my Crop-A Dile.
I agree that it's worth it. I have punched holes through tin buckets like butter! It's great for punching holes in chipboard too. I also punched holes in a scrapbook album cover. It's also wonderful for setting eyelets, just be careful not to squeeze too hard!
I really like mine. What I like most about it is you can adjust the depth of the hole. That way if you are doing a line of ten holes for a border they are all the same depth.
I bought mine with a coupon but at the time I didn't think I would use it that much. I was wrong, I use it all time. I definately think it was worth it.
My Walmart has both the Cropadile and the Cropadile Big Bite for $20 right now!
You won't believe it, but I saw both of these in the clearance section at the front of the store for $10 yesterday.....and didn't buy either one of them!!!! :shock: What was I thinking? :confused:
When I go back to see if they are still there for $10, which one would be the better one to get the reg cropadile or the big bite?
First tool in forever that made me go "wow" when I finally caved and bought it. I have the regular CAD rather than the big bite as I don't scrap so the ability to reach to the centre of a 12 x 12 was not an issue for me. Punch through chipboard, CDs, old credit cards/gift cards as well as single sheets of cardstock - gotta love that! I bought mine because I couldn't get a clean set on the We R Memory Keepers Extra Large Eyelets with a traditional setter - the CAD works a dream on those. I bought the Corner Chomper almost as soon as it came out because I was so impressed with the performance of the CAD, it feels like a really well engineered piece of kit in your hand!
I use my crop-a-dile about once every two months. I don't really use brads or eyelets, i don't punch through tin cans on a regular basis (or ever!) BUT I bought it 2 or 3 years ago (whenever it first came out) and i'll probably have it for another 3 years too. So I guess it's a nice tool to have around. Would I buy it again? Probably not..

I have both the reg Crop-A-Dial and the Big Bite. I use my Big Bite a lot. I would definitely go with the BB. It can do everything the smaller one does only better.
I use my crop-a-dile about once every two months. I don't really use brads or eyelets, i don't punch through tin cans on a regular basis (or ever!) BUT I bought it 2 or 3 years ago (whenever it first came out) and i'll probably have it for another 3 years too. So I guess it's a nice tool to have around. Would I buy it again? Probably not..
I second this post. Mine sits in the box I bought to go with it and takes up space in a drawer. It is really cool for what it does punch thru, but I rarely use it. I agree that I wouldn't buy it again.
It is great if you do projects with chipboard, tin pails, etc all the time.
I use mine occasionally but my DH is in love with it even if it does have pink handles! He has used it on just about everything that will fit in it. Leather, all kinds of metals, buckets (needed to repair the handle), needed a new hole for a screw thingy in a metal plate - heavens, if I got rid of it, he would go into mourning or go buy his own. I am pretty sure he has taken it to his workroom and hidden it.

Thanks everyone, for your input! I have been reorganizing my craft room and going through EVERYTHING...and I have tons of eyelets and brads that I never use anymore...and I love the look, but just got tired of messing up projects because I couldn't set them easily. I think you have me convinced! Next payday I'll round me up a coupon and get one!

i have both sizes, bought at different times but both with coupons! def a good tool to have.
they punch everything, thin wood, metal, leather, plastic etc etc
it may not be a tool you will use every day, but its nice to have when you do need!
ok, just went to HSN to get the link for thier video on the big bite, they have an awesome deal going on it too. if you do not have their CC and sign up i think they also give a discount!

I saw them in my Wal-Mart for $10 for either size too! If I arlready have both...I would have had the other day! I love both and use them for all kinds of things I never thought I'd use them for! Made lots of 4 X 4 Post-It Note holders for Christmas with my MIL using chipboard coasters....made the project so much easier! For that price, you can't go wrong!

I bought mine quite a while back, and I still haven't used it. Maybe one of these days I'll finally try it and wonder how I went without it for so long.......
I have the big bite, it is heavy and takes up storage space, and I only use it to punch holes (it's great at that, goes through anything, multiple layers of cs, easy to measure), but I hate it for setting eyelets. I have tried and tried but all it does is squish them. I end up using my hamer and eylet setter, which spreads the eyelets perfectly every time.
As a hole punch, it's superior to anything I've tried, but as an eyelet setter it sucks. If I lost it, I'm not sure I would buy another one.

I only have one because I was a hobby demo with SU for a short while. I'm not a tool junkie mainly because I don't have that kind of budget. I don't think I would have ever bought one for $30.00. I was thinking that is what SU sells them for. $20.00 is a good price and $10.00 is incredible. I would buy one for that price for sure. I don't use eyelets any more, so I really don't use it. I have used it for SU's large eyelets and was glad I had it. I rarely use it, but who knows...maybe I'll find a use for it. I doubt I'll get rid of it.

Another yes. But practice with spare eyelets in a colour you don't like, before starting out on a project. It takes a little practice to get the pressure right. I have both the CAD and the Big Bite for extra reach when I need it, and don't regret either.

I have both the Crop-a-Dile and the Big Bite. I can't say that I use either enough to really justify the cost of either tool.
I am not an eyelet user but have used it from time to time to just punch holes in various things. For that purpose, it does become a very expensive hole puncher.
I also agree that the pressure you use with either tool makes a difference of just enough or way to much!
I still like using eyelets. They should never go out of style. The Crop-a-dile was a great buy for me. I used a coupon, and just love it! I used to bang my eyelets in, and I work late at night. The banging even bothered me! Now I have a silent setter with the Crop-a-dile, and that alone makes it totally worth it! Not to mention how easy it is to use! It's a great tool for any crafter using eyelets of any size!
I got mine before I really knew I could ever find a use for it. One of those, rush out and gets because someone told me to. Well, I don't use it often, but when I do...it saves time and frustration. Use the coupon and you will have NO regrets on the purchase!

i bought mine a few weeks ago at WalMart for $20... i got the regular, not the Big Bite. It came in a set with some large eyelets, so I saved time searching for the eyelets to use the cropadile with. After destroying the tenth regular hole puncher this year, I figured it was cheaper to buy the CropAdile than to keep replacing the hole punches...
It punches so easily. Now I have no excuses not to make mini coaster albums LOL
I have both - and much prefer the Big Bite.
I like the longer reach.
I really like that you can set it on the table, use one hand to adjust the paper and you can see exactly where you're going to punch before you do it.
I just don't use mine so it hasn't been worth it. I did use a coupon to buy it, so it wasn't too huge an investment. I just don't do enough eyelets to make it worth it.
I guess the question would be, how often do you use eyelets? if it's often, then it's probably worth it.
I LOVE my CAD! I paid $35 as I ordered the green one and the case through the LSS here as I wanted a different color than everyone else here. But I love mine and use it alot. DH also likes it for belts to punch extra holes and his leather work stuff.
