Default Cricut vs cricut joy

I have a cricut brand new (April 2020). I struggle with it! I have only made sample from the instructions. NOTHING else!Should I buy the Cricut joy? Is it easier to use than the cricut maker that I don’t use? Or do I need to rewatch the cricut maker videos over and over and figure it out!?

Both the joy and maker have the same design space. Its just different materials that the maker can cut and to bigger sizes.

What are the issues you are having?

I was told to use the cricut with my laptop and not my iPad. I would watch How To Videos and the info was not synching. So I had given up and recently someone told me to try it with my laptop and I have not gone back yet.

I really want to be able to write/print out sentiments to use on cards and scrapbooking.

Thanks
