Default Cricut Input

I have the small cricut with the 6x12 mat. I was doing some reading on this great site. I read that some cricut cartridges don't work well with the small cricut and they work fully on the big one. The wild card is one of the cartridge. Can anyone help me with this. I love my small Cricut, but am I missing out on stuff. What cartridges work better with the big one? I wanted the wild card cartridge, but should I not get it because I won't be able to use it fully. thanks!!

berylscraps.....In using the Wild Card cartridge with the original Cricut you'll have a problem making the envelopes. You will only be able to make them rather tiny. The cards shouldn't be too bad to cut in a decent size. Realize that you won't be making A2 size cards though.

If you still want to work with the original Cricut, I would suggest using the Design Studio as this may allow you to adjust the sizes to better suit you.

As an alternative, you could use the idea of the envelopes on the cartridge and just cut your own to the same shape. Just use the image in the booklet of the envelope as a guide for cutting your own.

There are several cartridges that do work better with the Expression rather than the original Cricut. Also many images really won't cut properly with the smaller machine or even with the Expression in small sizes. This is due to the detail or intricate design of the image.

Some of the cartridges now state the need for larger sizes for some images on the box or in the booklet.

I know that the cartridge - Tags, Bags, Boxes and More- is being discontinued but this one also needs the Expression to cut a usable item. I had a Create - the box I cut out only could hold one Ferrero chocolate. I now have an Expression so the bags & boxes I am able to cut are bigger. You forget that the flaps and sides need space.

I think many of the new cartridges have boxes and envelopes included so the Expression really is needed to make sizes bigger than a tiny gift card.
