Default I figured it out...

I think I figured out why your circles don't come out right. I was changing the blade and when I put in the new one I set it just slightly off center. All my circles came out askew. When I adjusted the blade to directly centered, they came out fine again. Hope this helps. Seriously, the blade was only a very tiny bit off center and it seemed to make a difference.
Blessings,

Default Dead Center

When you look at the little arrow, it needs to be dead center when you are looking at it from the front. I think they could have made it a lot easier somehow but you just have to look and try to get it right in the middle. :-/

I tried it too and it doesn't change it either. I have tried three different carts and it still cuts wonky. I'm not happy with this and I don't know if a third replacement will make it better. I guess I can try and see.

I was using Jasmine (I believe) to cut out one of the pre-programmed works in 1". It didn't turn out very well with ripped paper and not cutting very well. I believe my blade is okay as I have cut other things after that. Can someone help me. Thanks

what type of paper are you using? aboverubiesstudio(sp?)(most awesome i have to say!!!) has a "cutting guide" for the cricut. i honestly when i first saw the chart didnt think it made a difference(the setting i mean, not the chart..) but it DOES! also is your matt "sticky" enough?? make sure it's sticky enough to "hold" the paper down but not too sticky to where you cant get the paper off of it when you make a cut. i hope i'm telling you the right stuff, it's just the stuff that's worked for me . also i think there is an update on the cutting chart, i just havent downloaded the update yet.

much luck, let us know if this helps or doesnt.

Thanks I will check this out as I wonder often how come Cricut doesn't tell us these things that have to be done. Although lining up my blade with the arrow doesn't help my circles but I am interested in seeing what this other site aboverubies has to say, maybe they have something to help my circles! Thanks!

Some designs don't cut very well at real small sizes. The type of paper you use also affects a tiny cut. Also slow down your speed if the cut is small and intricate.

has anyone considered that maybe that is the way circles are designed? A little artistic liberty on the part of the artist? Especially since the event is happening to several people. Does anyone get perfectly round circles. which carts are being used? I would like to try also.

I use George, Plantin' Schoolbook and Accent Essentials and all of mine no matter what cartridge end up looking like these below. I can't imagine that if it shows a circle on the mat and you're expecting a circle to get a slanted one. I think if they wanted it to be slanted they'd show you it to be that way. I don't know.

In George and AE my circles come out perfectly round no problems so I would think all should be that way, nothing shows in the book as being aslant that I'm aware of

Is this a new machine? Does it only do this with circles?

Did you contact Cricut support? maybe it is your machine. I have had to contact them a few times for things and got great service and replacements for defective items.

DH ordered a limited edition Cricut Expressions for my birthday. Wasn't expecting it, but am so thrilled! Anyone have the same model? I was concerned b/c it was $50 less than the regular Expressions. It still have all of the accessories as the original. I'm hoping it was simply the blue swirly design that is the difference.

Can't wait for it to appear on my doorstep...I will be searching through this thread for great tips and ideas!

This is my second replacement, pulled it out of the box and went straight to cutting circles. I tried it on the accent essentials and when I use some cereal box paper which is thicker the one the accent shape comes out wonky or it's the patterned paper that I cut to put on top is wonky, not sure which. I have called the CS and yes, they are great. I have decided to call tomorrow and ask for another replacement, if this one doesn't work, I am going to ask for a refund. My baby cricut never had this trouble.

I am curious as to how many of us have had issues with the Cricut Expression cutting circles, squares or anything else slanted or just plain not right? I wonder if there were enough of us if there's anything we could do. I asked if I was able to get my money back and they said not able to.

I've noticed that too, I thought it was just me. any standard shape never seems to be quite right. Figure we just have to live with it...they dont seem to be very receptive to suggestions or complaints...

I am to the point where I am not going to live with it, I spent good money on this machine and if I have to be the crazy Cricut lady, then I will. Hahahha! Have you called them and let them know? I am sending in a couple of my cartridges along with samples of my small creations that are really wonky. They said they'd send me a return shipping label and it'd take about twenty-four hours to receive. I would rather have my money back and get a baby cricut as I never had trouble with anything on that one.

Default cricut

I have tried many many times to get them to do something about my expression that smelled like a skunk. I had it for almost 2 years..and I know it was out of warranty but it smelled like that the day I got it..whether it was on or off...though the longer it was on the more it smelled..it was infront of my window so every time i walked by it i smelled skunk, figured we had one living under the deck or what ever...but then i leaned down to pick something up one day and realized it was the cricut..I couldnt even use it for 5 mins sitting infront of it, I would get a terrible headache...they just kept sending a blanket response...check your owners manual for rules on machanical failures...and forget about getting anyone on the phone! I use mine more for all the non simple shapes it can do, and use my nesties if I really need some other shape. Keep us posted as to what they do for you please, would love to know. Or after they respond to you, we can all start calling in too

They respond and are very helpful but I guess it's not the solution I would like. The one gal at CS was using hers and asked me which cart and shape I was talking about, I explained it's the AE and it says AE 48 she looked in the book and said that's a square, I said no, it's a shape with like pointy sides and rounding edges. She said hmmmm, are we on the same page. I laughed. She was very nice but not helpful. I understand and appreciate them sending me everything they can at this point I would just like my money back.

Does anyone know if vinyl to cut with the Cricut comes in 24" x 12" sizes? I'm not certain where to look. Thanks! (Sorry to butt in on your other conversation but I didn't know where else to pose this question.)

This is a lady I met via e-bay. I can't remember her e-bay name, but she sends me occasional e-mails and I just got one that mentions a sale on 12x24" vinyl. She carries all sorts of different sizes and colours (including metallic) and the order I placed, she was very good to deal with. This is her e-mail address:

[email protected]

Hope this is not a forbidden thing to do, 'cause I didn't mean any harm and it's done now. I heard it was better to ask forgiveness than permission,

HTH.

I cut some cool tribal stickers (the sticky vinyl, is that what you mean?) from the Indie cart, for the car for my son and his friend, I only have the small machine so making them larger with the DS was good. Just watch the thinner/pointy bits of the cut

Hi

Cricut Expression newbie here.

If I'm buying the deep cut blade for the first time, do I buy the one with the housing or not?

Also anything else you would recommend I buy for starting out, I've ordered
spatula tool
extra cutting blades
spare cutting mats

And where's the best place to get this sticky vinyl?

Thanks

Two posts above I gave an e-mail address for a lady on e-bay. I've found her e-bay name; it is marilyn1957. She has an amazing selection of colours and sizes. I think she has a store of some sort, but it might be just an e-bay one. Below is part of the latest e-mail from her to give you an idea of her regular and sale pricing:
