Be sure to call customer service and tell them about it. They replaced mine with no problem and the new one that I received doesn't smell at all. The skunk smell was making me sick so I'm thinking that it can't be good, you know? Make sure you call customer service and have your machine replace before your warranty is up- you only have a one year warranty.

That's the problem. I've already had it over a year. Wonder why I'm just now smelling the skunk smell??

Oh, sorry....I should have read the '08 in your post. I would call them anyway. Did you see the link I have in the first post of this thread? It's a link to another message board with people having the same problem. I told them at Cricut customer service about this thread I started and the the other thread I found. I told them this because they acted like they never heard of this problem and I wanted to tell them that I wasn't the only one, but then I asked for someone else and she was aware of the problem. Her first name was Aubrey- I can't remeber her last name.

Default cricut problem

They would do nothing for me..just kept saying read your manual, the warranty covers mechanical problems..they never addressed my problem. I use mine alot and i couldnt stand it anymore. I sold it to a friend who said the smell doesnt bother her that much. I am very dissapointed in the product, but what else is there to do when you have 45 cartridges? I had to buy another one. This one does not smell (yet) and I hope it wont.
