Well, I'm subscribing now since I received the Expressions for Christmas and I have no idea what I'm doing. I'll have to go back and read the first thread (all 126 pages) to figure out all the cool things I can do!

Hi Lisa! If you check the Cricut FAQ at the top of this forum it might help you answer the more common questions. It isn't as many pages either.
Congrats on your new Cricut!!

I got one for Christmas too, so I'll be reading some highlights.
I ordered 4 cartridges yesterday and will take advantage of the free ones Cricut is offering now.

So, I got a Cricut for Christmas. I took advantage of the buy 4 get and two free offers. Now I have this crazy feeling that this is one of those machines that I will never be able to use to it's fullest potential!
I joined the Yahoo group to get the cheat sheets, but I can't get to them!!! I tried downloading the newest Adobe reader and I still get a blank page that says done (at the bottom left of the web page). I have tried on two computers and get the same issue. Any suggestions? Anyone have them in word?

Where do you get the trail software?
Also, do most of you use your Cricut for scrapbooking or cards or both?

Ladies does anyone use linen paper/chatterbox paper in their cricut?
I need setting info - so far I have torn two sheets experimenting
Should I mess with the blade depth setting itself, which is now on 1?

Trial Software the link is in the cricut FAQ thread # 114 posted by Kath
HTH..It can be used with either the Expression or the original and uses(cuts) only the Carts that came with the Machine. You can play with all the carts but you must buy the software to cut with them. IF you buy the software you will only have to enter your activation code
I activated mine yesterday but ahvent cut anything since too busy cleaning up...You will need a cable to connect to your Computer..I used my Printer port USb cable while I waited for my Cricut software package to come.
You can also buy one at Wal mart. It does require you to update your cricut...but the changes make your blade move in smaller increments like the expression...
People with Dial Up have said it takes a while to update and to download I have highspeed and it took less than 5 min to update my machine...The directions were very self explanitory... Good Luck and enjoy. I did post to my blog what I cut and did with the software. In Nove and early Dec.

think the only thing I cut with one is very thin. I think your depth and pressure probably need to be adjusted.
I cut inexpensive cs at 3 depth and SU at 6 I usually match pressure and speed is usually fast unless I cut intricate. HTH

down load is free, but if you want to use it with all your carts you have to buy the software. I am not sure the cost to activate on line I bought it from Kim for 65$ and it includes a mouse pad and cable.. I will find the link since I am avoiding working right now... Maybe I'll be lucky and it will be in the FAQ thread also

I can't wait until they all come!
I have done nothing today. I was throwing up all night and have only eaten 2 pieces of toast today. It's noon and none of us are even dressed...

You will really like those carts!! I have all except Keystone, Beyond Birthdays, and Tear Drop. You will have fun with those.
I hope you feel better soon. I also have had an upset stomach for the past 3 days. I haven't thrown up yet but I feel like I could at any given moment. But, of course, the life of a mom means you can never really slow down. I've still had to take care of my children and my oldest DD has had a sore throat all day, too.
I'm off to go pick up the babysitter so I can go to the doctor. I'll be back later.

Okay, I also was a lucky one at Christmas and got one of these. Is ther a website that I can go to and just browse all the different cartridges? All I've got is a Wal-Mart around here and I'm too excited about what I find there. TIA.

Sounds like I better make my mind up about the software and fast... I sort of let the deadline to download it slip up on me....
Of course, I could just do the trial and order the software from Kim and save a few bucks... quite a few bucks actually.
Decisions......

If you go to Cricut.com they have them there. Look at the handbooks not just the backs of the cartridges. They do A LOT more than what is just on the back of the box. HTH!

Unless they've changed it, they *still* don't have the handbook for Paper Doll Dress Up.

Question about the Cricut Design Software.....
If you have the full version of the Design Software do you still need to buy all those cartridges? Or can you access all of the shapes and stuff thru the software?

Someone on the message board there scanned it in. It isn't the easiest to see some of the images but at least it gives an idea of what it has on it.

You can only cut with the cartridges you have. It will make you insert the cartridge before it cuts.

Yeah, I have that one. I was really, really hoping that Cricut would get it up soon. I've been waiting on it since September. I don't know why they just won't put it up.
