Joyce - I saw this tool demonstrated at a TAC event last February and it's AWESOME - I'm ashamed that I haven't invested in it yet.
You can use it to melt crayons and make backgrounds on both glossy AND matte paper, you can use different tips to burn wood or paper (you can make the prettiest flower designs!) You can pour a pile of embossing powder on paper and use one of the finer points and write a word right into the pile of embossing powder and obviously it melts the powder thereby giving you embossed words - SO COOL!!
Ok, I'm adding it on to my next order, I just convinced myself - thanks for posting the question - my customers need to see this!
Ok I have this tool and had NO idea you could do all this! Actually my hubby bought it to do wood working........but it is stored in MY craft room so I think I should be able to "borrow it" for rent! Can you give me more specific details on how to try some of these little nuggets you gave??? Sorry about stealin your thread ;(

Here's some information I found - when it refers to "points" - the hotmarks comes w/ a few different points, but you can also buy an additional set of points:
Crayon Background: Transfer Point
Pick out 3 or 4 crayons that would look nice together. You dont want to use real dark crayons because your stamping wont show up real well.
Matte Cardstock (you can use glossy too)
Hot Mark Tool with the transfer point
Stamps of your choice
Black Ink Pad
Heat the Hot Marks Tool for 4-5 minutes before starting. Be careful. This tool gets 750.
Hold your Hot Marks Tool over your piece of cardstock. Use your lightest crayon first. Touch the tip of the crayon to the tool and let a few drips of crayon drop onto the cardstock. Use the tool like an iron and smear the crayon around until the glossiness of the crayon is gone. Add your other colors in the same fashion. Be sure to overlap some of the colors and mix them. You may want to try this a few times to get the feel of the tool and the melting of the crayons.
After you have colored your piece of cardstock; stamp your images and finish your card.
Hot Knife Point:
This can be used to cut foam core for shaker cards. Be sure to cut on top of a glass mat. It will be hot and will cut through a self healing mat.
Stamping Points:
These can be used for backgrounds or to accent a stamped page. Make sure the points are good and hot in the Hot Marks Tool. Hold the tool straight up and down and touch to the paper. DO NOT ROCK!! Your image will burn into the paper.
Shading Point:
This point is great to use to make burnt leaves into your cardstock. It is also good to touch to the edges of your paper to give a burnt look.
Stencil Cutter Point:
Also good to cut your own stencils.
Cool you are talking about the regular crayons correct??? I cant wait to try! We also have the "alphas" for this.......I think I will try them on the paper also!

I'm trying to dig some up now! Some one on TAC ART SCANS made some lovely cards around 6 months ago...I send out an email to see if I can track them down.
They were mainly flowers made with the different tips...some had petals, some with the points for the leaves...I think she heated the paper with them though because it had a brownish/sepia tone to it.
Didn't even think about all the other uses listed above...I tend to stick to straight stamping/scrapbooking stuff myself. Otherwise I keep buying things and then never use them. sigh...
I bought it about 3 years ago to give a burned, aged look to some documents for my daughter's class project. It was rather time consuming, but it worked. The only other time I used it was to carve a pumpkin that had a delicate design on it. This was extremely time consuming but the pumpkin turned out great.
Good Morning ladies we are snowed in UP here in the North Country, 13 inches that started out as freezing rain on Friday night so slippery roads they even cancelled church,.........but what really bummed me out.......I was supposed to go to an TAC show last night and it was cancelled (hubby didn't want me to drive in this weather anyway) but my girlfriend was the demo and had designed a cute scrapbook page I was excited to make ;)........oh well maybe I can get her to still let me make it......hint hint stampinscrappinqueen! ;)

WOW - I have had this tool for 3 years and never even took it out of the
box. BUT.....being a crafter I figured someday I would find a use for it.
So now I'm excited and can't wait to try it. I looked at the card links and
they don't sound to hard to make some of them were first tries. If I come
up with anything I'll post in my gallery and let you know. If anyone else
does then it would be fun for you to post for the rest of us to see.
THANKS AGAIN!
OMG....I am totally crackin up cuz this thread is from a year ago. Yo Joyce.....Kimber bought one at HL when we went to YU's for Mardi Gras! How funny is that!!!!!
