Default Crafting newbie

Hello everyone,
I'm very new to all this crafting but desperate to learn. I've purchased a Cricut Explore Air 2 but have no idea what to do with it despite watching online demo's etc etc....
I thought it would be easy to type in some text, produce it on vnyl and stick it on a mug to start with... but i'm abut to chuck it out of the window.
Can anybody help?

I do not have one but lots of tools I've felt like chucking out the window I have grown to love since other crafters on this site took the time to explain how to use them and sweet tips and hints. Do not despair! Other crafters will come to your rescue! And soon you will be posting the best works of art ever and how much you like your Cricut! Blessings...

Hi and welcome to SCS!

I would ask this question on the tools board. A lot of people dont come here.

Click on forum at the top and it will list all the boards. You will see it there. Dont worry-we have thousands of people here...I bet someone knows the answer!

There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to electronic die cutting machines. The first one I got took me forever to figure it out Cricut should have some videos to get you started or look for beginner videos on Youtube.

Basically you're going to download the software onto your computer, and hook the Cricut to your computer, open up the design software and open an image/design in the software, (use a design that comes with the machine, purchase one from their store or use the fonts from your computer). You can adjust size, etc. Place your material on the mat and load it into the machine, in the design software choose the type of material you are cutting and then hit the cut button. This is just the very basics, try simple projects to get the hang of it and then you can learn all the bells and whistles.
