Default copic pairs

I am new to Copics, and I just got some yesterday. I wonder if there is a thread that has some good "pairs" of Copics to get by their numbers for shading purposes - i.e. a lighter and darker of the same green or red or whatever. Does that make sense? I tried to search the threads here but I'm having trouble seaching the forums.

Thanks,
Dawn

The "code" for the markers goes like this...
The letters at the beginning are the color family
The middle number is the color number
And the last number refers to the intensity or brightness of the color

Look for markers that share the same letter and middle number, with a 2 or 3 digit difference on the last number.
examples: B00, B02, B04...RV21, RV23, RV25, etc...

This is what is recommended in the book "Let's Draw! Illustrating with Copic"

The copic numbering system is explained really well on the copic site. In the same color family use as described by Judy above, 2-3 numbers apart. If you cross over color families they recommend 2 colors next to each other on the color wheel and then use two markers with the same number. Example B21 and BG21. HTH

thank you Judy & Tamara for the great info! This makes sense.

I went to my local HL, but they don't have a lot of options within the same color family.
