 I just tried to emboss an image and then color with my copic markers. The markers are pulling the black out of the embossed lines and spreading it
through the color. What in heck am I doing wrong??? I used Georgia Pacific paper, versamark, black detail ep. Someone please help!!

Just an idea - can you stamp your image with regular black ink, color with your Copics, and then use a stamp aligner to stamp over your image and emboss? I understand that when the copics dry, the alcohol is gone so I assume it wouldn't hurt the embossing then?
I discovered the same thing with the copics. I didn't try the clear EP, I will do that!
The only ink I've found that doesn't smear is Palette Black Noir. Ellen Hutson likes the Brilliance black, but that smeared for me.
You really have to let the Brilliance ink dry THOROUGHLY and/or heat set it before coloring. I usually don't have a problem with the Brilliance inks, when allowed to dry.
Another quick drying ink to try is Ranger's Adirondack Pitch Black or Espresso for stamping your images . . . works beautifully!
Here's some info I got off the copic site. I hope it helps. :-)
How To Use COPIC Markers
Always use good paper with a smooth and tight surface. Art stores sell "Marker" tablets. We also sell these tablets. They make colors appear brighter and use less ink in the process. A rough paper will not only absorb too much ink but may also bleed along the edge of the line.
When trying to blend colors or mix colors together use the special "COLORLESS BLENDER" Marker #0. This marker works best on MARKER TABLET PAPER because the ink needs to remain on the surface to mix. It is very difficult to blend colors on an absorbent paper. See more details about our Colorless Blender in our catalog.
Adding white to your art work. Markers are a dye based system and thus only tiny particles can move through the fiber tips. White ink is too think to be effective in a marker. If you need to add white highlights to a drawing or to cover up an area that you don't want to show then use Opaque White. This comes in a jar and should be stirred and applied by a tiny brush. Always clean the brush with soap and water after using.
I understand that Stazon is not supposed to work with Copics, but I colored in an image with Copics that had been stamped with Stazon a couple of months ago. I guess the Stazon had time to "cure." Maybe I was just lucky.
I also tested both the Georgia Pacific cardstock and the SU! Whisper White. I have to say that I do not like the Georgia Pacific cardstock at all. I have tried it with several different coloring tools, and it doesn't even compare to the SU! WW from my experience.

Actually I've found that almost any ink works if it has enough time. I mean like months. I have this box of stamped images from image swaps, and stuff. Everything I pull out of there colors fine with the copics and I know that a lot of that stuff is stamped with the SU black *I can tell because it looks sorta purple* and it's all just random inks.
So if you have the time I guess you could stamp your image then wait about 6 months? haha.

I have first put Versamark on my stamp - then Versamark Detail Black on the stamp. Stamp on paper (using Gerogia Pacific) then heat set. Have no problem coloring with Copic after this.
