In case you don't already know, you can use your COPICs to color clear gems and pearls. I buy the inexpensive clear rhinestones and white pearls at Micheal's. I can color them any color with my COPICs. The COPICs are great for coloring white grosgrain ribbon too. Anybody have more uses for COPICs?
I love doing that too. I have colored white grosgrain ribbon before and prima flowers and buttons. I don't do the ribbon very often though, it takes too much ink.
Sorry to be off-topic here, but where are you finding the pearls at Michaels? Are they the flat-backed ones? I've never seen them there, and I was just about to order some through the mail.
You can also color brads to match with your inks. Color staples, paper clips, flathead thumb tacks, wooden knobs...just test it out and see if the ink will adhere to the surface.
Michaels does have them. They're the ones that are in different sizes and are set in a circular pattern on a card. (Pearls by KAISERscrapbook). I use the Mark It pens by Bic and they work just as well as the copics for coloring the pearl and clear gems.
I've found the flat backed (with adhesive back) pearls at Michael's in the brad section, it's a package of various sizes. At my Michael's, their down at the bottom of the shelf, so not easily seen.

I use my Sharpies all the time to color metal, plastic, rhinestones, etc. Not as many colors as copics but they are getting there. BIC has some permanent markers out now with many colors.
