Default Colored Pencils...how do you store them for easy access?

I LOVE my new 120 Ct. Prismacolor Pencils, but mine came in the "tin" box and it is not very user friendly. I always feel like I am digging to the bottom of the box to find the color I want. I was thinking of sorting them by color but don't know what to put them in. Please show me your storage!

For the longest time I didn't use mine because of that tin box! (Just too much trouble to get out) I finally just took them out and put them in an old mug on my desk. Not very creative but work just fine!

I have all mine in a Longaberger Basket standing upright! Easy access, I can see all the colors, and it doesn't take up too my room in my stamping space!

I don't have it yet, but there's an Art Bin container I saw at Joann's that has 5 'compartments'. I have the 132 piece set, and pulled the colors that match SU out and have them separated by color family. I plan on putting them into the Art Bin thing (once I get it), with one color family in each compartment, the fifth being for neutrals and in-colors. As for the rest, I'll leave them in the tin for now...still trying to figure something out for them. I do have them sorted by color in the tin though.

I have been using an old coffee container that I altered. I only have a set of 48, I would have to come up with something else if I had as many as you have. Subscribing to see what others say.

I use a altered small paint can. I started with a sm. jar, I only had the 48 ct. but I keep buying more from dick blick web site so I'm almost at the 120 ct. The paint can works great for me.

Laura - Love your idea...I am definitely too lazy to make this, but this is exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of. I would like them vertical for easy viewing, not too deep and with the dividers, that should be easy to find don't ya think ?

I bought a zippered pencil case at Hobby Lobby that holds 120 pencils. Keeps them neatly contained so they don't get broken and I can travel with them too. Used a coupon of course!

I use a nice wooden, flat silverware holder. It has five compartments, one for each color family and extra for favorites!

I keep mine in the Metal box that they came in.

This way they would get broken.

I only have the 48 ct. so looking for mine isn't that hard.

I just ordered the leather zippered pencil case from Dick Blick website. I didn't receive it yet. The one that holds 96 pencils is $27.00. I didn't think that was too bad a price. Take a look...

Let us know what you think when you get it. It looks great! I may even hold off on the cheap Artbin idea (which is isn't deep at all, by the way...maybe an inch and a half).

I will let you know.

I wish I could have the $1 Target buckets but I just don't have the room they would take..... just part of a linen closet in our little condo.

I recently made a coaster box and added dividers to the inside. It's perfect, pencils divided by color family, so they are easy to select...not to mention very pretty with SU! patterned paper! I haven't taken a picture of it yet, but there are tons of them out there if you need ideas.

Believe it or not I use a plastic shower caddy (4 square sides separated from each other by a deep groove so you can "sit" it on a metal bar). I "sit" it on my other products. Only problem was the small holes at the bottom but I just put some scrap cardstock in there. Not the best container but for $1 it does me fine

I have decided that if they are not out... I never use them, so I put them up on my inkpad wall.... I wanted a soloution that would fit on my wall, and look pretty at the same time (I stamp in a upstairs loft area that also has my computer desk and other stuff, it's not exclusivly a stamp room area, and also is not able to be closed off by doors.)

I got the shelf and glass jars at IKEA, (around $10 for the spice rack and the jars).. see attached pictures.

I know I'm bumping up an old thread, but I took a picture to attach a couple days ago and realized it was still sitting in my camera....

I use a couple old Illuminations candle jars - I have 132 divided between two candle jars. I think they're kinda pretty
