Default clear blocks...

Which clear blocks do you prefer and why? CTMH or SU!? I know that CTMH has had them alot longer but I have read on here how great the SU! ones are. I'm in the process of unmounting alot of wood stamps and was just curious as to which blocks my fellow stampers prefer!

Thanks for your input!

I've never seen the CTMH ones so I can't give a fair assessment but I really like my SU ones. It's so much better than the cheap one I got at Hobby Lobby. I really like the nice rounded edges, the cheap one has sharp corners. The SU blocks are also rather thick (about 2 times as thick as el cheapo block) and have a contoured edge so that they are super easy to grip and handle. I've been very pleased with them so far.

Maybe someone else will have a better comparison!

Apple Pie makes nice blocks at very reasonable prices.

I like any with contoured edges and that are fairly thick top to bottom. I've used some thin ones that are difficult to use because they are hard to hold and your hands are too close to the cardstock. I'd say thick ones with soft curved edges are my faves! Plus I love grids, because I always get things crooked!

I have ctmh blocks and I love them! I have been using them since I started a few years ago. They have the curved sides like a wooden block so they are comfortable to use. I've never seen or used a SU block so I can't compare the two brands.

S-UP are MY favorite!! I don't have ALL the sizes (yet)..but am working on doing so. Hoping the Easter Bunny brings me a couple

I don't care for the square ones with "pointy" edges either...as Understandblue mentioned...hands are too close to cardstock and I always mess it up when it comes to stamping down onto it...UGH!! NOT for me....

I have almost a full set of both SU and CTMH. Before SU came out with blocks, the CTMH were hands-down my favorite. Good quality, nice thickness, finger grips on two sides, etc.

But SU are now my favorite. I prefer the more "rounded" edges and I like that the finger groove is on all four sides, not just two. I often line up my stamps using both orientations of the blocks (the ones that aren't square).

Both are the same thickness and IMHO the same weight. I don't think you can go wrong with either product, I just prefer the SU.

HTH~

I have CTMH, Unity, and SU. Between CTMH and SU, I do like the SU ones better. They are very comfortable and I like the fact that the groove goes all the way around. The Unity ones are nice also because the edge is wood, so if feels like you are stamping with a wood mounted stamp.HTH

I have both and prefer the SU ones. The SU ones have the comfort grip on all four sides, which is the reason I like them better than the CTMH ones. However, you can buy stickers from CTMH to put grid lines on their blocks. I don't see why you couldn't use those stickers with the SU blocks, though you may have to cut them to fit.

As a side note, I tend to think the more the merrier with clear blocks. I tend to lose them on my table since well, they're clear. Just sayin'.

I have both.
I like the CTMH ones because they have a guideline etched on the bottom to help in lining up the image.
I like the SU ones because they have grooves on all four sides.
Both are 3/4 inch thick. I like both equally. I would check variety of sizes and cost.

I have only ctmh but my only complaint is that the grip groves are not all the way around only on two ends. I am going to try the SU ones thanks to the ones who mentioned they have the grips all the way around.
