Default Chrome Plate for Big Shot

I recently bought a Chrome Plate for my Big Shot. It is an upgrade from the precision plate that SU used to offer. It has changed my life. No more wasted paper and time cutting first with regular plates because I didn't want to "use up" my precision plate. (I got it with a coupon from Hobby Lobby on line, couldn't find it in stock at any craft store.) Next up, I'm trying the forever plates offered by scrapbook.com to replace clear regular cutting plates.Mary Beth

I am such a lemming - just jumped off the chrome plate cliff on Amazon. I need new plates anyway, so I just added that one into my cart.

Do you have a link to this? Not sure what a chrome plate is.

Here’s the link to the sizzix site so you can look at it. You’ll need to find it somewhere else if you decide to get one.

I, too, have the Chrome Plate, and it definitely is a game changer!!!! Totally LOVE it and after a couple of years of constant use, it only has a couple of little scratches on its otherwise shiny surface.   It has solved the problem of uncut portions on intricate dies by a factor of 99%.
One caveat, the pressure on the dies is significant (which is why it works!!!), that being the case, some thin edge, longer dies will have a tendency to curl a bit from the pressure of the rollers.  When this first happened to me, I sort of freaked, until I figured out hat the dies can be gently re-bent back into flat shape.
I didn’t realize that Sizzix was producing the Chrome Plate again.  They ran out or took it off the market shortly after I purchased mine 2 or 3 years ago.
This plate is worth adding to your Big Shot accessories, it works crazy-good for cutting intricate and stitched dies that are so popular right now.

Any chance it might work with a Spellbinders Platinum 6, or do you know if they have an equivalent?

I have never tried the Spellbinders machine but I think that the Chrome plate is too wide.
I just measured my plate and it is 6 1/8" wide.  Maybe cut a piece of cardboard to that width and see if it goes through.

Yes it should fit, their others do so the chrome shouldn't be any different.

I love my chrome plate.  Best thing ever!  I recently purchased the Magic Mats from Scrapbook.com (both in the regular and extended size).  It's nice to be able to use only one of my pretty Sizzix plates with this so the plates do not warp (and it's a money saver since I'm only using one of the Sizzix plates and saving the other).  I have not however, used the chrome plate with the Magic Mat.  If it works I don't have to buy Sizzix plates again.  I will have to experiment.  As of now, I find the magic mat works best with a metal shim underneath and it will give you a clean cut.
