Stuff from those two stores is ok, but I LOVE Stampin' Up's cardstock. It's a good weight and in my opinion, much better quality.

I'm a Stampin' Up girl. It's great quality, and all the colors coordinate. Papertrey has nice cs, too.

I'm also a SU gal. The paper really holds it's shape and doesn't flop like some of the other brands of c/s. The color also goes all the way through, no white core, so it's perfect for tearing and distressing.

Default White CS

I haven't tried too many brands but I recently got Wasau Exact Index 140 lb paper (equivalent to 93 lb Cover stock) and I really like it. It's reasonable, heavy and works well with OMS.

I tried different kinds of cardstock trying to save money. But except for Bazzil paper, SU is so well worth it. Papertrey's white is superior!

I started off with those solid colored paper packs from Michaels. They were cheap, but they were no worth whatever I paid for them. Some of the colors actually faded out wherever adhesive touched them!

For cardstock, I'm much happier with Stampin Up, Club Scrap, and Bazzil.

i came here to ask this exact question!

i'm happy with the Georgia Pacific white stock, but the Paperbilities colored cardstock i bought at W*M is like construction paper, it ripped when i tried to dry hand emboss

original poster, thanks for asking--and thanks for answering, ladies

i'll keep my eye on this thread, for sure

I love SU color combo and seeing the combinations in our gallery.
However, with the higher costs of shipping I may be watching for more cardstock sales for the basic colors. If you are going to a SU workshop, you're shipping is only 10% of your order I believe. I use coupons a lot to buy expensive designer paper kits, and cardstock

I also started off with cardstock from Michaels and then.... my SU CS came in and the CS came in from papertrey..... now I am totally convinced that SU and Papertrey is the way to go. The cards looks and feel so much better.....definitely worth the splurge

i won some blog candy recently and received it this past week, the card she sent with it is luscious--i believe it is SU!

i made a joke about the cult of stampin' up to a friend the other day, but gosh, maybe it's because it is REALLY good stuff...i've not seen bazzill in person, i'm gonna have to order some though, i've heard good things about it as well

I like to use the CS from HL for scrapbooking. It is less expensive for back ground pages and mounting pictures.

SU is good for cards.

I agree with pp. I use the cheapo stuff to mount pictures and stuff, but for cards SU and Bazzil all the way!

I am really enjoying using Prism cardstock. One side is textured (good for mounting on) and the other side is smooth (great for stamping on)...a nice heavy weight too!

I, too, started off with the cheap stuff from Michael's.
You get what you pay for. I still use it for some mounting, etc... but for actual cardstock,
SU or Bazzill is the way to go.
With SU, so many color choices and
they coordinate which is nice (and easier)...

I'm also a SU! girl! I started off with Michael's, then Creative Memories (a little), but really love SU!'s cause of the weight and quality of it. And of course, the colors go really well together and I have the markers and ink pads to match.

Default SU CS Rocks!

I love SU cardstock, the colors and the weight are perfect for cards. I have started buying it in 12 by 12 inch sized to use in my scrapbooks. Love the results! And I love how the colors coordinate.:-D I have loads of paper packs from Michael's from when I started and use it for trying out techniques before cutting into my precious SU paper. I do like Georgia Pacific white CS pretty well. Haven't tried the other brands mentioned.

I first started with cheaper stuff, too, but my cards turned out 100x's better when I switched to Stampin' Up! 9 years ago!! I use Papertrey Ink's new cardstock, too, and it is wonderful!! In my honest opinion cards made with Walmart paper feel and look very cheap. Not trying to be rude but I have been there and I know from first hand experience. It is so worth it to invest a little bit in the cardstock.

I'm an SU gal as well. I use the GP white cardstock for my white, but I do actually like SU's white better. I haven't tried Papertrey yet.

I love SU cardstock (always have) but also like Bazzill and DoubleMates. I recently went to a TAC workshop (my best friend is a demo for TAC and I am a demo for SU but we have a mutual support system!) and was really impressed with the weight of their white cardstock.

I tried the GP 110# cardstock and found it flimsy (thinner than SU) so I think it was not cardstock but paper but the wrapper is gone from my package now.

I usually flick the edge of cs with my thumb and if it bends I don't buy it (at least not for a card base; I might really like the color and use it for layering.)

Fun thread!

Have to agree on Papertrey--no other white that I've used compares to it. I, also, love SU! and Papertrey for colors. I'm hoping to get to try out some Prism soon. I've given all of my Michael's card stock to my kids because they haven't noticed the difference in quality--yet. If you think about the per sheet difference in price it really isn't much.

Smiles,
Anne

when I first started I bought paper from all kinds of places. I now only use Stampin Up. I actually took all the old icky paper and gave it all to my grandkids to have a hay day with. I am glad to get rid of it all. I learned the hard way!

Bazzill and SU are great for colors......Color Mates has a ton of graduated colors but it is a little lighter weight (which is good for layering). As for the white.....I use 80lb XpedX, cheap and absolutely wonderful for coloring in.

Call me crazy, but I can't see paying SU!'s prices. Papertrey has amazing cardstock for a good price. I've also found Bazzill Basics at a few online stores. I like their texture and range of colors.

SU's colored cardstock is fabulous and worth every dime especially if you want high quality cardstock that matches their inks and ribbons, etc.

Memory Box makes a terrific duplex cardstock that is awesome for card bases -- it is white on one side and has a beautiful selection of colors on the other side.

Prism is a great cardstock, one side is textured.

Papertreyink's cardstock is amazingly stiff. Perfect for card bases. A but heavy if you are going to use lots of layers.

Beckett's Expression #80 is near identical to Stampin Up's whisper white and vanilla cardstock -- you can get a sample from www.marcospaper.com to see the smoothness. It comes in a wider variety of colors.

SU's Vellum Cardstock is the best vellum I've used for cards. Worth the $$

I also swear by Papertreyink. I'm in search of a 12 X 12 white and off white cardstock of the similiar quality. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really like the weight of Papertrey's cardstock.

Thanks,

I love SU's cardstock but I also love Bazzil. My local Hobby Lobby carries Bazzil paper and they have paper 50% off quite a bit. If there is a Hobby Lobby nearby, you might go check it out.

I've tried em all and I prefer Marco's Paper totally. I got the sample pack and looked at colors, feel, weight, etc. and buy almost all my cardstock from them. Their Utopia Mat is really soft and suedy feeling, Beckett Expressions is buttery smooth & comes in several colors, Carnival is thick and has rich, rich colors, 80# Cougar is what I use for my main cards (comes in white and cream), etc. They have dozens of brands and types. I've found differences in what ink I use & what medium I use to color in with. I like Stampin' Up, but it just doesn't have that buttery smooth texture. It's totally personal preference, but I like the white core paper for tearing. That way I can chalk it, ink it or even paint it. Anyway, you can order the sampler from marcopaper.com for about $12 and then use the papers for layers on cards.
