Question Big Shot vs Spellbinders Platinum 6

It's a sad statement, but my beloved Big Shot is just about on its last legs. I have worked on it several times and oiled all the gears but the gears are still slipping and binding. I'm afraid that it will soon be time to purchase another machine.

I have been looking at the Spellbinders Platinum 6 and wondering a few things. Does it use similar plates and plate base? In other words, I have lots of things for my Big Shot, can they be used with the SP6?

If you have used both give me your opinion on each. Right now I am leaning on going back with another Big Shot, but I want to keep my options open and I don't have a lot of money to invest in something that can't use what I already have.

Thanks in advance!
