Default Best Cardstock for Card Bases...?

I've always used Flourishes Classic White and Classic Ivory for my card bases, but have been unable to get it recently. (Which brings up another question... has Flourishes been sold/gone out of business? I've heard yea and I've heard nay... anyone?)

In the absence of my favorite cardstock for card bases, I'm looking for a replacement. Something heavy but not too heavy, around a 100-lb. weight, bright white color, good for Copics. I love the Stampin Up! Whisper White cardstock, but it's a bit lighter than I like for card bases. I've used Pure Luxury from Gina K as well, but that has a slight yellow tint to it. Suggestions?

Thanks so much for your help!

I use Papertrey ink cardstock for my white and cream. They take ink really well, and copics work great with them.

MFT Smooth White is great...nice and sturdy and accepts ink wonderfully.

Check out Michaels Recollections Line. They now have a very nice white and ivory cardstock that is 110 lb. You can get it in big packs and use a coupon, too!

From what I've heard, they now also have it in black! I love the 110lb Recollections cardstock.

Thanks, Cat. I forgot about the black. I think it is very, very nice cardstock, especially for the price.

I personally love the Paper Studio at Hobby lobby. I get the black, white, ivory and kraft. Covers my needs. I use to make my own bases, but no more. I love the sturdiness. It's very similar to the recollections I think. It's just my opinion, I'm not an aficionado as many of the others.

It was recently on sale for 50% off. 50 cards bases for $3.50 (reg 6.99). Plus when it's not on sale, you can use the 40% off coup. It goes on 50% at least once a month, but usually every other week I can find it on some type of sale. I think it's a good value.

I love the envelopes to make mini albums and custom make the envelope for the card out of the matching pattern paper that I use to make the card. Silly or weird, I know... maybe even a bit backwards but it's a better value to me and I like doing it that way.

There is a possibility that we may have sent you ivory instead of white. Our white is the exact same color as SU. In fact, I had a sheet of SU and our layering weight white and none of us at work could figure out which was which. Let me know if you need that replaced. You should not be able to tell the difference. (It may be that we actually sell the same card stock as SU's layering weight. And our 120 lb base weight is the same, just a heavier stock.)
Hugs,
Gina K.

I recommend whole heartedly the Recollections 110# paper. Great price- 12.99 for 100 sheets BEFORE coupon. Does anyone out there buy anything without a coupon at the big craft stores??? No coupon, no purchase. Great quality. Perfect for Copicing (I doubt that that is a real word.) I have probably bought enough of this paper for life. I was afraid that it would be discontinued - OMG, what would I do???I hate su paper. I think it is 65# at best - flimsy. And Gina's 120# doesn't score well - not a smooth fold. I have tried all the tricks that Gina suggests but no luck. So, it is Recollections for me. If you haven't tried it, you should. It is great. Happy Stamping...Bobbi

Does this 110# say that on the pad? I bought some smaller packs at Michaels and they dont list the weight, which I thought was strange.

The smaller packs are 65lb (all the their coloured cardstock is 65lb). Not a bad weight, and I've used it for card bases before without any problems, but then again, I don't make cards with 1000 layers and 10lbs of embellishments.

Lately I have been using Kraft as my card bases and putting SU whisper white panels on top. I love the weight and feel of the kraft.

I also use the Staples brand of 110 lb. cardstock. Very good quality; available in white and off-white/ivory/cream.

Has anyone actually bought the black in 110lb? I would love it, but can not find it.

I have it and have used it. It is great, just like the white and off white. Michael's doesn't have as much as the white or off white and it being Halloween time, it is probably selling quickly. Keep trying. Bobbi

My giant Michael's was slow to get the black, but now they have the 3 heavweight stock. Be patient and ask them for it.
