Default Accucut machine

I have an accucut mark4 machine. (going out of business craft store sale) Big shot dies look thinner than the original accucut and ellison dies. Are they? Can sizzex and other dies be used and what cutting mats or sandwich recipes would I need.
So confused!

Good evening,
Yes, the Sizzix and Big Shot dies are thinner.
I have a Grande Mark and I am able to use it with Sizzix dies although I can't give you an "exact" sandwich recipe ! LOL! I use 2 magazines and a dozen or so pieces of cardstock. You just have to figure out what gives you the right height.
It works for me but when the Cuttlebug embossing folders were first introduced I bought a Cuttlebug.I now use that for my thinner dies and the AccuCut for my full sized dies.

:-) Barbara

You should not use the sizzix, big shot, etc. dies in the accu cut mark iv...shimming can damage the dies and the machine...I have an accu cut...and would never use anything but the accu cut or ellison dies, or commercial dies of that thickness...I have a big shot for all my personal machine dies...

Thanks Barbara and Debbie for your advise. I'll have to start saving for a cuttle bug! Momspiel/Tammy

Accucut now has an adapter pad to use with lower profile dies. The cost is $18 for Mark III, $20 for Mark IV, and $25 for the Grandmarke machines. Since the profile of the Big Shot dies is the same as Sizzix, you should be able to use it for those as well.

"MARK IV Tray Adapter
Place adapter in the base of an AccuCut MARK IV die tray to use with Sizzix(R) and Ellison(R) AllStar(R) dies. Also compatible with retired AccuCut Zip'eSlim dies."

Of course...they come out with this after I have bought the Sizzix and Big Shot!!! I knew I should have waited a little longer.

Thanks for the info...I am going to go check it out
