Well, darn, I just got a red one. I thought they were different. I would rather have pink. I will have to leave some hints for the hubby for a christmas present, won't I?;)
I just saw this at Archivers -- much less expensive than my original red and yellow ATGs -- ~$30 --- don't you think a BC survivor should have a pink one too??????????????

I DO think a breast cancer survivor SHOULD have a pink one!
Has anyone noticed a difference when using the pink one? I've had two of the red and neither have worked properly. I think the one that replaced the first defective one is also defective. I've used a friend's red one and feels completely different. She and I use the exact same tape. I know this for a fact, because I bought a case of it, and she gets her tape from my box when she needs some! On my gun, the tape 'cones' and gets gaps further into the roll. If you've had this happen, you know exactly what I mean! LOL I've considered picking up the pink one, but after having two bad red ones...
It cost me a fortune, too... I couldn't find one locally or anywhere online to buy one back then, and ended up paying $90 for one gun plus 2 rolls of tape.
I don't have an ATG (i know, crazy right?) Tell me what you like about them. They seem SO big and bulky, not sure if it is for me, but I hear people love them. On the fence

YES! This is exactly my situation as well! Why do I need to have one of these big bulky things? If it really is that great, please explain and give me specifics.
It looks awkward to use and difficult to reload,BUT the pink ones were at Michael's and with a coupon..well...you know the deal.....
I love my ATG--yes, it is big and takes awhile to get used to, but the refills are so much cheaper and the tape holds so well. Things I have made two years ago still are stuck!
I though would recommend you trying one first before buying. It does take a bit to get used to load the tape and to use it, but I love it now!!!!! There are some videos on loading it and I watch them a couple of times before I got it down. Now it is so simple and many of my friends have tried mine and have gotten one. I did get a pink one at Mike's and played it forward to a friend here on SCS--she loves it!
I was wondering about that too - but I got tired of little snail adhesives that I had to buy refills for 3 times a week and didn't work properly and I tried various brands... The ATG adhesive is really holding the layers together nicely - the only thing it doesn't adhere well is glittery papers.
- I did load the first one incorrectly, but the good thing is you can reload it if needed ;) About the big size - at least it won't get lost under my piles of stuff (I'm one of the messy crafters that need to have everything out of shelves and boxes)

I'd don't have one yet but think I am going to try it. However, I thought I read once that left handers may have a difficult time with it....can anyone comment regarding that issue? Thanks!

Personally I have stamped for 15 plus years, never thought I had to have one. Picked up the pink ATG and love this thing. I too was always concerned about the space it would take up on my stamping desktop. But once I saw friends using them at swap I realized you sit them on side, where you can grab the handle & lay tape down immediately. It really is a pretty cool tool & design. The spools of tape last forever (at least quite a while for me). If you know someone that has one I would also agree with trying the gun out before you purchase.
you can also put a sturdy coffee mug on your desk and put the gun in tape first. Then the handle is right there to grab.
If anyone is on the fence, search the forums there are so many threads on this and all the reason you should buy one. And all that before you could get it wiht a coupon!
I have had my pink gun for over a month --and do really like it. I especially like it now that I am on my second roll of adhesive. I did find out --like others said -- that the
roll of tape that comes with it does not seem to work as well as the one that I just put in it. Not really sure what the difference is --but this roll seems to stay working so much better. And yes --I did get mine at 50% off at Michaels with a coupon at the time! Well worth it!!
I found the same thing as the above member...........the rolls that came with the pink ATG did not work as well as the others I have purchased since using those. What I had read before buying my ATG was that the rolls included with purchase aren't rolled as tightly as the others. When you look at the rolls, that is exactly what I found as well. If I hadn't read that prior, I would have been tempted to return my ATG. But, I am now on my 7th roll and very happy with my purchase. I loved my other tape dispensers but must admit, I am loving the price I am now paying for my tape. I still find that I pick up my smaller dispensers when I have to tape a small area.
I bought my ATG 714 about 2 years ago (red one); I've never had an issue with it to date. I use the Gold 3M tape in it. I was worried about the size of it when I got it, but in just a day or two I was so used to it that I did not notice the size anymore. I can put a dot of tape on very small pieces with it. Do not let the size scare you. It is so much cheaper to refill the tapes than the smaller snail, creative memories, etc. tape runners are. Compare the tape for yourself. My friend watched me use mine and was very reluctant to purchase one. After 18 months she finally got one and loves it! I also altered mine because i really did not love the red color. I spray painted it white and then put embellishments on it and love it! It's now time to re-do my alterations. Not sure what color this time, but it sure is fun!
Definitely a great purchase. Once you get used to the size, you'll love it. The tape is SOOOOO much cheaper than the smaller tape runners and I use a lot of tape!!!
I love my ATG, but I still keep my glue handy. The ATG works great for multi-layered card because it really keeps the layers together. I bought mine from Glenda's Creative Space for $21.50, but I found it here for cheaper: 3M Scotch Advanced Tape Glider . I've never ordered from the second company, so can't recommend it.
I thought the ATG was too bulky first, but now I don't even notice. You can't beat the price for the refills.

I got the pink one at Michaels with a 40 percent off coupon (still a great deal I think). When I tried it, I had tons of trouble. I got it loaded fine. It's the user malfunctioning that was the problem (user = me).
I taped my card to the desk. I taped my finger to the card. I got crooked lines. I got globs at the end. I got my card stuck to my shirt by accident.
However, after an hour of my DH and DD laughing at me as I cursed the ATG, I finally got the hang of it. And I will not use those small rollers anymore (although I do have loads of them left just in case). I love my ATG.
I don't care for the color pink, but I am glad that some of the money for the purchase goes to BC research and that's worth staring at pink and taping myself all over the place.

Just got the Pink ATG on Amazon for $26-something with shipping! At Micheals it's $40 and even with a 40% off coupon, it would be $24 plus tax....and besides, I am a half hour from Mikes.
This better work better than the red one...the tape is constantly running off the side of the roller on mine...even after being sent a new one...TWICE.
Kinda makes me mad that I paid $50 way back when for the red though. LOL

Does anybody know how the Scotch ATG gun compares to the Glue Glider Pro? I was surprised at the price difference between the two (Scotch $40, Glue Glider Pro $25)

there was a comparison thread somewhere here on SCS when I was deciding which one to buy. The main reasons why I choose Scotch ATG is that Glue Glider adhesive is more expensive and some people said it doesn't stick so well if you don't press it down really good. Oh and you can buy the new pink ATG for under $30 - got mine with 40% off coupon in Michaels. Also lots of online stores sell them for 20-something.
Hands down..The ATG is the way to go (I've got both and put my Glue Glider off to the side, if anyone wants to buy it let me know). The ATG is just great to use!
Thanks ladies! I'm thinking that the ATG is going to be the way to go. The initial price might be a little intimidating, but in the end, will be more economical. Plus..... I have a Michael's 40% off coupon!

I am working on my Christmas cards today and going back over to do another layer --I found lots of the layers previously taped had come apart. Thank goodness.....now I have my Pink ATG to redo them and finish my cards!! Won't be using any other adhesive tape.
Hi Everyone,
This may not be the correct thread, but hoping someone can help me here. Is the ATG more of a replacement for Snail / Mono adhesive or is it also a good replacement in terms of stickiness for the Red Sticky Strip for gluing down to make boxes, etc.?
Thanks!

Reason: clarity
I use my atg for sides that aren't put to the most pressure. I use sticky strip or scorpal for sides that are the hardest to keep down. It really depends on the project, the match box won't stay together for me unless it is the sticky tape, but other boxes do fine.

In a word, CHEAP!! I know the gun is expensive, but the tape is why all of us jumped on this bandwagon, and I've never regretted it for a second. I get my refill tape at framingsupplies.com. I buy the more expensive 'gold' tape that is for scrapbooking, and it is $3.49 a roll. Each roll is 36 yards. Yes, it's YARDS. It's saved me so much money! Plus, it's great adhesive. It goes on easy and sticks really well.
My friend got a pink one for Hannukah, and she LOVES it. She says she loves how it 'glides' on. I'm kind of jealous of her pretty pink one, now, since I have the red one, and it's not nearly as pretty. I know, that's not the point, and how much money have I really saved if I go out and buy the pink one, right? But I still want it.
I just bought a pink one at Mike's. Rewards member's get 40% off right now without using a coupon. I loaded it and it seems to be working correctly, but the tape keeps rolling out closer to the edge of the rubber roller. Have I loaded something wrong? or will it work its way back to the center of the roller? It hasn't fallen off but it makes me nervous.
Mine always ends up at the end of the roller but has never come off. Hope that
makes you feel better. As long as you put the roll on and it is pushed so it clicks
into place it should be just fine! Have fun!!
I'd don't have one yet but think I am going to try it. However, I thought I read once that left handers may have a difficult time with it....can anyone comment regarding that issue? Thanks!
I'm a lefty and I have no issues with it. I love my pink ATG and couldn't imagine going back to little tape dispensers. I found it awkward replacing the first roll but the second one went on fine.
